Apply for the Virginia Child Care Financing Program- You May Be Eligible for a 0% Interest Rate Loan
The VDOE, in partnership with the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority, offers a low-interest child care loan to eligible center-based and family day home providers. Eligible applicants can borrow amounts ranging from a $15,000 to $250,000 cap (depending on provider type) at a 0% interest rate.Â

The VDOE is partnering with the Study of Early Education through Partnerships at the University of Virginia (UVA) to learn about your experiences leading your site. You will receive a $25 gift card after completing the survey!
Our partners, the Study of Early Education through Partnerships at UVA, have sent emails with your survey invitation (from noreply@surveys.virginia.edu). Family day home care is often chosen by families for its intimate setting, flexible hours, small group size and consistency of caregivers. If you or someone you know is interested in providing child care from within your home, please be reminded that the Code of Virginia limits a home to caring for four nonresident children at one time unless the home is licensed. Learn more about family day homes and how to become licensed today.

Early Childhood Provisionally Licensed Teacher Incentive Program - For School DivisionsÂ
The application for the Early Childhood Provisionally Licensed Teacher Program is now open. This grant is only open to teachers in pre-k programs operated by school divisions (VPI, ECSE, or others). This program provides up to $30,000 each for school division for the sole purpose of providing financial incentives to provisionally licensed teachers that are working in preschool programs operated by a school division applications are due by November 11. For detailed information and the application, please see Superintendent’s Memo #202-22.

Tuition Support Opportunity for Early Childhood Special Education Licensure Â
There are 2 opportunities for tuition support:
- Please see VPI section for information on the Early Childhood Provisionally Licensed Teacher Incentive Program.
- The VDOE Early Childhood Special Education Consortium grant provides tuition support for teachers pursuing a Master’s degree or fulfilling requirements for their provisional Birth-5, Children with Disabilities license. Courses are offered online through Radford University (RU) and the University of Lynchburg (UL). Contact information for RU and UL program sponsors is below. Â

WIDA Early Years Language-Focused Approaches to Family Engagement Webinar - Tomorrow, September 14Â
WIDA Early Years will host a follow-up fall kick-off webinar tomorrow, September 14 from 3-4 p.m., focused on language-centered approaches to engaging with families of multilingual children. Attending birth-five educators and leaders will explore research-based recommendations for supporting language development for multilingual children ages 0-5 and have opportunities to discuss connections to local family engagement policies and practices.
Social-Emotional Supports For Program Leaders Webinar -Â September 28
Birth to five educators and program leaders: learn how you can be supported to promote young children’s healthy social-emotional development! On September 28, 12-1 p.m., VDOE will host an overview webinar of three initiatives that promote the social and emotional well-being of children birth-to-5: the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) pilot, Infant and Toddler Behavior Consultation (ITBC) services, and Advancing Effective Interactions and Instruction (AEII) coaching.
