Fine Arts SOL Overviews: Overviews of 2020 Fine Arts SOL are available for teachers. The presentations provide background and context for the standards. Instructional and professional learning resources are also shared. A 30-minute recording and accompanying slide deck are available for each discipline: Dance Arts, Elementary Music, Secondary Music, Theatre Arts, Elementary Visual Arts, and Secondary Visual Arts.

Artists in Education (AIEx) Grant Funding Available: The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) Artists in Education Express Grant (AIEx) provides support of up to $1,500 with a 15% cash match to eligible Virginia Pre-K -12 schools, not-for-profit organizations, and units of government for short-term residencies (20 hours or less) with professional teaching artists. AIEx funding is available on a first-come first-served basis with applications currently accepted through April 17, 2023 or until funds are fully committed for programming taking place and concluding before June 19, 2023. Any teaching artist can be utilized for programming; however, using VCA roster artists significantly shortens the application process. Applying is Easy! Performing Arts Funding Assistance Available for Pre-K – 12 Schools: The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) Performing Arts Touring Assistance Program is designed to ensure that all Virginians have the ability to enjoy high quality performances by our state’s finest touring artists. The artists and ensembles listed in the 2022-2023 Tour Directory represent a wide range of disciplines and have been selected based on artistic quality, sound management and the ability to provide inspiring, entertaining and educational programs. Any Virginia school or non-profit may apply for up to 50% of the performance and/or educational program fees of the artists and ensembles listed in this publication. Applying is Easy! Free Downloadable Library of Congress Music Curriculum Units from NAfME: Curriculum Units for the 2014 Music Responding Standards: Focused on helping educators connect to the Library of Congress’s digitized archives, and helping teachers learn how to incorporate primary sources into the classroom, NAfME has created curriculum units connected to the Library’s vast resources in music, including audio, video, still images, and sheet music files.
