VDOE Fall 2022 Cohort Journey into Teaching Academy This is a yearlong professional development initiative for teachers completing their second year of teaching at the end of the 2021-2022 school year and entering their third year of teaching during the 2022-2023 SY as a provisionally licensed special education teacher. The Academy provides teacher support beyond mentorship in an effort to enhance the retention, as well as the overall performance of provisionally licensed special education teachers. Completed applications and recommendations are due to the VDOE by September 23. See Superintendent's Memo 163-22 for details.
2022 CTE High-Quality Work-Based Learning Guide The VDOE collaborated with stakeholders to review and revise the CTE High-Quality Work-Based Learning Guide. Technical content revisions and new program content in certain areas was added to provide local school divisions with consistent messaging regarding high-quality work-based learning experiences. The Guide focuses on all 12 types of WBL methods used in Virginia. It includes Virginia regulations and guidelines for the administration of HQWBL and provides training materials for work-based learning teacher-coordinators. See more from VDOE!
VDOE Fine Arts Update VDOE Fine Arts staff will share up-to-date information and resources for the 2022-2023 school year on August 3 from 4:15 - 5:00 p.m. This session is intended for division-level leaders of fine arts curriculum, instruction, and professional learning and is open to all fine arts educators who wish to attend. 2022 VASCD Annual Conference The VASCD Annual Conference brings together educators from across the Commonwealth (and beyond) to learn, teach, lead, and connect! This year’s conference will be held at The Williamsburg Lodge. The pre-conference will be held on November 29 and the annual conference will be November 30 – December 1. CHOICE Professional Learning Virginia Ed Strategies is seeking high school math, science, computer science, and CTE teachers to join CHOICE, a program that empowers teachers, provides a $1500 per year to self-select professional learning aligned to their goals, and support from an online community of peers and statewide resources. Grant for Tuition Scholarships for Licensed High School Teachers to be Considered Faculty to Teach Dual Enrollment School divisions may apply to VDOE for a grant for dual enrollment tuition scholarship awards. Individuals who are currently enrolled in relevant content/discipline area courses for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters who are eligible for dual enrollment tuition scholarships are eligible for consideration. Please submit grant requests for the Fall 2022 semester no later than September 9. See Superintendent's Memo 150-22 for all the details.

PK-12 Educational Leadership Program Old Dominion University offers Master's (M.S.Ed.) and Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degrees that prepare aspiring leaders for school and division-level administrative positions. These Educational Leadership Program uses a cohort model where students attend live, online classes in the evening with the same students throughout your program, joining class on the same day throughout all semesters.
