Congratulations! For an 11th consecutive year, Virginia has earned the U.S. Department of Education’s highest rating for improving outcomes for students with disabilities and compliance with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The annual IDEA report card scores states on the participation and performance of students with disabilities on state and national reading and math tests and on the success of states in improving graduation rates for special education students. John Marshall Center and Preservation Virginia Teacher Professional Workshop
Join the JMC and PVA John Marshall House to explore the judicial legacy, learn how historic homes can be interpreted as primary sources, and find ways to connect the turn of the 18th century to students’ lives today. This day-long program on July 18 at 10a.m. will kick off at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, and include a tour of the John Marshall House in the Court End neighborhood of Richmond. Documentation for recertification points will be provided upon request. Register today!

Grant for Tuition Scholarships for Licensed High School Teachers to be Considered Faculty to Teach Dual Enrollment
School divisions may apply to VDOE for a grant for dual enrollment tuition scholarship awards. Individuals who are currently enrolled in relevant content/discipline area courses for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters who are eligible for dual enrollment tuition scholarships are eligible for consideration. Please submit grant requests for the Fall 2022 semester no later than September 9. See Superintendent's Memo 150-22 for all the details. 

Assessment Updates: Grade 3-8 Reading & Mathematics for 2022-2023
Legislation passed in the 2021 Virginia General Assembly (HB2027 and SB1357) required the implementation of “through-year” or “growth” assessments beginning in fall 2021 for reading and mathematics in grades 3-8.  Beginning with the second year of implementation (2022-2023) and beyond, the legislation requires that the grades 3-8 reading and mathematics growth assessments be administered to students once in the fall and once in the winter (mid-year) during the school year. In addition to the growth assessments, the SOL tests for grade 3-8 reading and mathematics will continue to be administered.Superintendent's Memo 135-22 provides information regarding the assessment updates grade 3-8 reading and mathematics for 2022-2023.

VDOE CTE Career Success Stars
CTE programs in Virginia public schools serve more than 640,000 students in one or more CTE courses in grades 6-12. These programs are designed to prepare young people for productive futures while meeting the Commonwealth's need for well-trained and industry-certified technical workers. School Quality Profiles 
School Quality Profiles were developed by the state Board of Education in response to the 2015 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the board to redesign online reports for schools and school divisions to more effectively communicate to parents and the public about the status and achievements of the Virginia’s public schools. K-8 Mathematics Specialist Program
Old Dominion University is recruiting for its online K-8 Mathematics Specialist Program. They will add up to 40 new students in fall 2022 up to 20 master's students (30 credits) and 20-25 endorsement only non-degree students (21 credits). Learn more and apply today.  M.Ed. Virtual Information Session-July 12
Learn more about the University of Richmond M.Ed. programs in curriculum and instruction and educational leadership and policy studies, including a post-master's certificate option. Register for a 45-minute Zoom meeting for details about the program, admission requirements, costs, and resources. The sessions begin at 5:30 p.m.

Master of Science in Education with an Educational Leadership Concentration
This Longwood University’s hybrid model is designed for working professionals, blending real-world applicability with flexibility. The program meets on-campus five Saturdays per semester with the remainder of learning occurring asynchronously online!
