Project Write Virtual Workshop-December 11 Project Write is inviting teachers to write alongside their students for the virtual Second Saturday Series workshop with journalist and author Bridget Greene. Her workshop Creating Animal Characters will inspire young writers in grades 4-12 to show emotions and describe behavior, rather than telling an audience. Virginia Humanities K-12 Educator Fellowships Applications are being accepted for six humanities educators to join a new fellowship scheduled to begin in March 2022. The work is virtual and will take place over a nine month period. Fellows will receive a stipend, a 360-camera, two relevant books for research, and unique opportunities with specialists and Virginia Humanities staff. Applications close on January 7.

Virginia Opera’s Newest Amazing Opera, Earth to Kenzie is Available Kenzie is a fifth grader in a challenging world; sometimes so challenging that she finds solace in another world - that of video games. This story addresses real modern-day problems of poverty, homelessness and self-worth. Virginia Opera has prepared a 5-minute preview and a teacher resource companion handbook. TechGirls This U.S. Department of State program is an opportunity for girls between the ages of 15 and 17 years of age to experience an international summer exchange. It is designed to inspire them to pursue careers in science and technology. The program is a 27-day experience in partnership with Virginia Tech University tentatively scheduled for July 2022. Dual Master’s Degree Opportunity in Spanish Language and Culture for Educators James Madison University and the University of Salamanca, Spain are offering a dual Master program in Spanish. The program leads to a M.Ed. with a concentration in Spanish Language and Culture for Educators degree from JMU and a Salamanca Masters for Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language degree from USAL.
