Transition University - Winter 2021
February 6, 2021 - March 26, 2021
Life is full of transitions. For families of children with disabilities, thinking about the future can bring mixed emotions.
The Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) provides families of students with disabilities many training opportunities throughout the year, such as Transition University, a free parent-friendly five-week, self-paced online transition course. The goal is to share factual information on transition services and to help make the transition from school services to the adult services world less confusing. It is never too early to start learning about students with disabilities transitioning to adulthood and it is never too early to begin taking steps to prepare for the future, so register for Transition University today!
A Parent's View of Transition University:
"This was so incredibly informative. It was presented in a logical way by professionals who knew their content. I went into this training with specific subjects I wanted to learn more about, and I did. However, I learned about so many other things I had never heard about. Because of this training, we have redone my son's IEP and it is a good document now. We also had a real conversation about guardianship and decided to go with power of attorney instead. Thank you for all your help and information. You guys are awesome!!"
An Educator's View of Transition University:
"I have been in one professional role or another in special education in Virginia for more than forty years. This presentation was one of the most complete and on-target resources I have accessed during that time. I will be using the transition information immediately with my current caseload of students and their families."
