#GraduateTogether As coronavirus has prompted the cancellation of high school graduation ceremonies across the country, partners are coming together to pay tribute to millions of high school seniors, their extraordinary teachers, and their families, as rally everyone around a message of hope and unity. Graduate Together: America Honors the Class of 2020 will air on Saturday, May 16, and will honor the more than 3 million high school seniors across the country. In addition, visit Graduate Together VA to learn how you can celebrate Virginia students in the Class of 2020.

2020 Fine Arts Standards of Learning
On May 7, 2020, the Virginia Board of Education approved the proposed revised 2020 Fine Arts Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools. Superintendent's Memo 118-20 provides additional information for divisions and educators. Check them out today!

Nominations for 2020-2021 CTE Curriculum Review Committees-Due August 7
School divisions may nominate a Career and Technical Education teacher for any of the 34 committees. All nominees who wish to serve on a committee must complete the web-based application using the CTE Application Processing System (CTEAPS). The web-based application process requires a professional reference and division-level approval. 

VDOE Supporting English Learners in a Distance Learning Environment-May 18
In this session, participants will explore how familiar scaffolds and supports for English Learners in grades K-12 can be transferred from the physical classroom to the distance learning environment.

History and Social Science Resources Available 
History and Social Science Learning in Place resources are available from VDOE. The new Tracking Logs, along with the HSS progression charts, have been created to support educators as they determine gaps in content due to the school closure. 

Science Resources Available 
Science Tracking Logs have been created to support educators as they determine gaps in science content due to the school closure. These logs are resources that offer suggestions for integration of missed content and may be adapted as needed by divisions.

eMediaVA English Resources
The VDOE Learning in Place English Resources now include links to online playlists and collections in eMediaVA. The playlists include short English videos and interactives for students in grades K-12 aligned to the 2017 English Standards of Learning.

The VDOE Learning in Place Mathematics Resources now include links to online playlists and collections in eMediaVA. The playlists include short mathematics videos and interactives for students in grades K-8 aligned to the 2016 Mathematics Standards of Learning.

VCU's School of Education Online Summer Learning Academy
Registration is now open for the 2020 Online Summer Learning Academy covering critical topics including restorative justice, literacy, math technology, ELL best practices, racial identity, mindfulness, and trauma informed care. Register today!    

Natural Resources Test Week-May 18-22
The Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts Educational Foundation invites 9th-12th graders to demonstrate their knowledge during the Natural Resources Testing Week. This event will include five tests in the areas of: Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, Wildlife, and Water Resource Management. Check it out today!

Collaboration on New EL Curriculum Framework
Teachers and leaders can participate to ask questions and share ideas for a new curriculum-writing guidance resource. Join on May 27 from either 9:30-10:30 a.m., or 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Virtual TLC Symposium
The Virginia Teacher of the Year Network is hosting virtual professional development during this time of school closure for educators. They will offer 
bi-monthly live professional development sessions as well as video sessions for teachers across the Commonwealth. All of their sessions center on how to adapt to the current and ever-changing virtual education landscape. Check it out today!

Continuity for Learning: Virginia Learns Anywhere!
VDOE created the Continuity for Learning (C4L) Task Force consisting of teachers, leaders, and collaborating educational partners across Virginia. The C4L Task Force has prepared Virginia Learns Anywhere which reinforces much-needed structure while also empowering individual teachers to support students in learning remotely. 

VDOE Professional Development Guidance for Administrators
The Professional Development Guidance document connects administrators to information about opportunities and resources that provide professional learning opportunities for public school educators. This document was developed by VDOE and non-profit organizations and is part of the Continuity for Learning (C4L) support initiative.

VA TV Classroom
Superintendent of Public Instruction James Lane announced that four Virginia public media stations will broadcast teacher-led classroom instruction aligned with the Commonwealth’s academic standards. Blue Ridge PBS, VPM, WETA and WHRO Public Media worked closely with the VDOE to create “VA TV Classroom” to provide instruction to students in grades K-10 who are unable to access other distance learning options.
