Virginia SLP License Renewal
Virginia Speech-Language Pathologist licenses will expire on 6/30/2020. Licensees who have not renewed by June 3, 2020, will be sent a reminder email, no paper notices will be mailed this year.
To renew your license online and pay with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card, go to www.license.dhp.virginia.gov. If you have not previously established a User ID and Password, or need to re-create them.

The Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology will cease mailing hard-copy licenses, certifications, and registrations. During this renewal, a final hard copy will be issued that contains no expiration date. This final copy should be maintained, carried, or posted in accordance with relevant applicable laws and regulations. Anyone seeking verification of current licensure status of any license, registration or certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia may obtain this information via License Lookup which serves as Primary Source Verification.

SLP Evaluations: Determining Difference from Disorder
Old Dominion University is partnering with Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to offer an online session for speech-language pathologists and other educators. Save the date and listen as Dr. Carol Westby explains approaches to evaluation of children from diverse cultural backgrounds. There is no charge to attend, but attendees must register in advance.

Pearson staff members are offering a free online training session that will focus on practical questions about telepractice and updated Pearson guidance for various assessments. This online session will include a Question and Answer period.

SLPs should note that all local state, federal and professional guidelines still apply and should be considered carefully. If asked by the LEA to administer assessments via telepractice, be sure to allow plenty of time to prepare and practice.
