State Superintendent Announces
Computer Science Competition Winners
RICHMOND — Superintendent of Public Instruction James Lane today announced the winners of the Computer Science in Your Neighborhood competition. The competition is a joint project of the Virginia Department of Education, the Science Museum of Virginia and CodeVA. The contest challenged students to create digital products — including videos, websites and applications — about their interest in computer science and the role it plays in their daily lives, families and communities.
“I congratulate all of the winning students — and their teachers — for their enthusiasm for this exciting field and their willingness to put their computer science skills to the test,” Lane said. “I look forward to this competition growing as schools continue to integrate the content of Virginia’s nationally recognized Computer Science Standards of Learning into their instructional programs.”
