Virginia Premier Medicaid to Become Part of Optima Health on July 1
Virginia Premier will become part of Optima Health as of July 1, 2023. Members who have Virginia Premier as their Medicaid managed care health plan will receive information from Optima Health as their new managed care provider. The change will not impact members’ health benefits or coverage. However, per CMS requirements, the Virginia Premier dual-eligible special needs plan (DSNP) for members eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid will remain branded as Virginia Premier until December 31, 2023. Effective January 1, 2024, the Virginia Premier DSNP will end, and members will be transitioned to the Optima DSNP.
Members who are affected by this change have the right to choose a different health plan no later than September 30, 2023, by calling the managed care helpline at 1-800-643-2273, (TTY:1-800-817-6608) weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Redetermination Tracker Shows Unwinding Stats
DMAS recently created a redetermination tracker as the effort to redetermine eligibility for all 2.1 million Medicaid members continues. The dashboard provides an overview status of the renewal process and is updated monthly with information such as the current month overview status, overall monthly overview status, and the overall members data table. Viewers can sort the data by fee-for-service or managed care members, by month, and/or eligibility criteria such as aged adults, blind/disabled, children and more.
The eligibility tracker will continue to feature this data throughout the redetermination process. For more information about the redetermination effort and how members can renew their coverage, visit the CoverVA website.

Provider FAQ about Maternal Health Coverage
Did you know that Medicaid provides coverage for pregnant women for 12 months after they give birth? This 12-month postpartum continuous coverage became a permanent policy on July 1, 2022, but may have been overlooked since it took place during the public health emergency. The 12-month postpartum coverage applies to all pregnant full benefit Medicaid and Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS) Mom members. It is not limited to pregnancy coverage groups. The only exception is members enrolled in the new FAMIS Prenatal Coverage program for pregnant women who do not meet immigration criteria for other coverage. FAMIS Prenatal Coverage enrollees will receive coverage through 60 days postpartum.
For more details about the 12-month postpartum coverage, visit the DMAS website for the Provider FAQ.

Sentara Brings Mobile Clinic to Petersburg
Sentara recently established a permanent mobile health clinic in Petersburg, Va., to help bring healthcare to the people who need it most. The clinic serves Medicaid patients with primary care, behavioral health, and social services needs on a walk-in and appointment basis. In support of the governor's Partnership for Petersburg, the mobile clinic helps deliver care directly to the communities they serve by removing traditional barriers, such as transportation and time, that prevent people from receiving the healthcare they need.
The Sentara Mobile Clinic provides care to all ages, with a focus on the uninsured and those who have Medicaid and Medicare. It is located at the Petersburg Public Library and the Hope Center every Thursday. View the mobile health clinic schedule for details, as well as additional locations and times throughout Virginia.
