The Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, known as PACE, is a health plan for seniors that offers a comprehensive healthcare alternative to a nursing facility. PACE Centers partner with caregivers to help seniors, 55+ to remain at home and in the community.

PACE understands that independence is important. Virginia PACE Centers help participants live independently and safely. In addition, PACE supports families who are providing care in the home. An interdisciplinary team (IDT) of health professionals, which includes doctors, nurses, personal care aides, rehabilitation therapists, and social workers, provides coordinated care and services for PACE participants.  For most participants, this enables them to remain in the community rather than receive care in a nursing facility.

Those who qualify for PACE are:

  • Age 55 or older
  • Live in the PACE service area
  • Able to live safely in the community with the support of PACE
  • Approved for nursing facility level of care by the State of Virginia Assessment

Services Offered:
All services covered by Medicaid and Medicare including transportation, prescription coverage, personal care, meals, activities, social services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, day center, etc. as determined by IDT.

PACE is a program of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Federal Government. PACE is funded by Medicare and Medicaid. PACE does not discriminate in the delivery of services based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, age, mental or physical disabilities, or source of payment.
