The 2024 DHRM HR Conference Was Successful Because of You!
I would like to thank each of you for your participation at the 2024 DHRM HR Conference - Elite HR: Ignite your Passion for Growth & Innovation held September 30 – October 2! I hope you all left inspired, with a renewed passion for all you do to make the Commonwealth the best place to work! We had 428 attendees, amazing guest speakers, great networking opportunities, and a variety of vendors who provided valuable information, which collectively made it such a wonderful event. The feedback we have received has been very positive, and your participation helped make this event a success. This is a great way to provide your suggestions and feedback that will help us plan for next year. I am very proud of our HR Community and look forward to seeing at the 2025 DHRM HR Conference!
We recognize the impacts from Hurricane Helene have caused long-term storm damage in the Commonwealth. If you have state employees who have been directly impacted by this natural disaster, please email me so we can ensure they receive assistance available to them.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services provide a wide variety of services, both in-person and online, that are available at no cost to its members. Effective immediately, Anthem's online EAP benefits have been extended to wage and waived state employees until June 30, 2025. Please see more information here.

DHRM is excited to announce that the DHRM 2024 Mandated Reporting Activities for Human Resources calendar is now available for agency Human Resource Directors. This document provides a summary list in date order of mandated reporting and other requirements of Commonwealth agency Human Resources. These mandates are set in the Code of Virginia, Appropriation Act, Executive Orders, Executive Directives, observations and ongoing additional requirements of state officials. This is a living document and will be updated as necessary. If you have any questions or want to provide us with any feedback regarding the calendar, feel free to contact DHRM, Deputy Director, Stacy Pendleton. We hope this will be a helpful tool for you.
Inter-Agency Transfers require collaboration and communication between the separating agency and the hiring agency. Upon notification of a resignation, separating agencies are encouraged to ask their employees to indicate if they are transferring to another state agency.
The COV Training & Development Network is excited to announce the next meeting on November 7th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The session, The Evaluation Edge: Enhancing Learning & Development Outcomes, will focus on learning and development evaluation strategies for measuring program outcomes and identifying opportunities for program enhancement or changes.

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of a Compensation Network to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across state agencies. This initiative will provide an opportunity to connect with other compensation professionals across the state, share best practices, and stay informed about emerging trends in the field of compensation. Free flu shots are available to covered health plan members through participating in-network providers and pharmacies. DHRM and Capitol Square Healthcare will be sponsoring two Drive-Thru Flu Shot events. These events will be held on October 11th and October 25th from 10am - 3pm at Brightpoint Community College Parking Deck (Midlothian Campus) located at 800 Charter Colony parkway, Midlothian, VA 23114.

The 2024 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) launched statewide on Wednesday, October 2nd! We invite state employees from around the Capitol Square area in downtown Richmond to participate in the remaining two DHRM Charity Fairs scheduled on November 13th and December 4th, starting at 11 a.m. For questions regarding CVC, please reach out to cvcsupport@dhrm.virginia.gov.

The Virginia Management Fellows Program (VMF) serves as a management and leadership succession pipeline. The VMF equips college graduates interested in state public service with the knowledge and capacities to lead. How does it work? Learning state Government in “real-time”, Fellows participate in three successive 8-month rotations at various state agencies. Are you interested in hosting a future Fellow? Even though conflict can be challenging, the Employment Dispute Resolution (EDR) team want to remind our fellow state employees that there are many services available to help you with your workplace conflicts including, mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, and training (and most provided FREE of charge!) Conflict is often inevitable, but resolution is always possible!

The PerForms annual performance evaluation has been released and managers should start their employees' evaluations. PerForms will be used by classified employees who are in the Cardinal system and are subject to the state performance planning and evaluation policy.

Congratulations to Arielle Truesdale who joined the Office of Finance and Administration as a Procurement Contract Administrator. Arielle is a native of Newport News, Virginia and comes to DHRM with over seven years of experience in procurement. She has worked in both state and federal procurement roles, most recently serving as a Senior Contract Officer at the Department of General Services. Arielle brings a deep understanding of procurement best practices, extensive knowledge in contract management, and building strong vendor relationships. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in ministry, reading, making candles, and trying out new foods as a dedicated foodie. |
