We are pleased to announce that registration will open soon for the 2024 DHRM HR Conference! The Conference will be held September 30th through October 2nd at the Hampton Roads Convention Center located in Hampton Virginia. How is Your Workforce Plan Progressing?
Although agency workforce plans are not due to DHRM until September 30, 2024 agencies should have already started the process of reviewing their FY24 information for insights to update their workforce plans and strategy. All templates, tools, and resources can be found on the DHRM Workforce Planning webpage, and we hosted three live working sessions to walk through the process and answer questions. DHRM is initiating a targeted data cleanup effort to ensure that Cardinal records are accurate and up to date. Your agency's participation in this effort is vital and required for maintaining the integrity of our systems and being able to provide accurate and reliable data for reporting and informed decision making.
Effective June 28, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security increased fines on employers who do not comply with I-9 regulations. In addition to higher fines, employers may see an increase in I-9 inspections.
As we continue to work towards our goal of a 20% response rate for the Commonwealth of Virginia Exit Survey, we wanted to share with you, not only our highest response rate to date of 16%, but also the highest growth between fiscal years of 4% for FY24!

In addition to being a valuable resource for employees, EAP provides managers and supervisors with tools, resources, and support to assist them in dealing with all types of employee situations. Resources are available at no cost to agencies through Anthem EAP for Managers and Supervisors that can be used for all employees regardless of health plan enrollment.

The 2025 Pay and Holiday Calendar was approved by the Governor and is posted here on DHRM’s website. Those agencies using alternate holiday schedules should direct your employees to your internal calendars.
In Case You Missed...
The Virginia Minimum Wage will increase from $12.00 per hour to $12.41 per hour, effective January 1, 2025. This increase ensures compliance with §40.1-28.10(F) of the Code of Virginia. The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) has issued a formal letter to Virginia employers. See here.

Kudos to David Phillips who joined the Chief Information Office as a full-time SAS Data Administrator/Analyst Lead. David will assist the Data Analysis team with supporting Data Warehouse environments including SAS. He comes to us from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where he worked as an Enterprise Data Architect. David holds a bachelor’s and master's degree in information systems from VCU and has over 18 years of experience in business intelligence and IT administration.
