 Chesterfield a Top 'Digital County' in Nation
 Chesterfield has been named No. 2 among U.S. counties with populations between 250,000 and 499,999 in the Digital Counties Survey. The county has maintained a top 10 ranking for the past 16 years, including 10 consecutive years among the top 5 in its population category.
Now in its 24th year, the Digital Counties Survey recognizes counties that are leading the way in using technology to improve public services, strengthen cybersecurity, modernize operations and deliver more responsive, transparent government. Each year, counties are evaluated on their ability to align IT innovation with strategic priorities and real-world impact.
The Center for Digital Government (CDG) administers the national survey in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo).

When Chesterfield voters overwhelmingly approved the 2022 Bond Referendum, they made a long-term investment in the county’s future. The $540 million General Obligation bonds included $375 million for Chesterfield County Public Schools to address enrollment growth, replace aging facilities, and modernize facilities not yet at the end of their effective service life.
Those investments have been moving from planning to reality.
That’s where bonds enter the picture. While they cannot be used for day-to-day expenses, they can fund major public infrastructure projects such as schools, public safety facilities, parks and libraries. In Chesterfield, the projects are community focused and data driven, which allows the county to make thoughtful investments that are responsive to residents’ needs.

Board of Supervisors to Hold Monthly Meeting Wednesday
The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors will meet Wednesday, July 22, starting with a work session at 2 p.m. in Room 502 of the County Administration Building (9901 Lori Road), followed by an evening session that begins at 6 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room (10001 Iron Bridge Road).

Commonwealth Games Come to the Richmond Region
The Richmond Region, including Chesterfield and Henrico, are set to host the Virginia Commonwealth Games this year for the first time in the event's 36-year history. Welcoming athletes from all over Virginia, the games are set to kick off with a tailgate party and opening ceremonies July 24.

CDVTF Award Nominations Open Until August 1
The Chesterfield Domestic Violence Task Force is seeking nominations for its 8th Annual Outstanding Service Award. Nominees will be recognized and the award recipient will be announced at this year’s GO PURPLE! Domestic Violence Awareness Month event.

Register to Vote for Aug. 4 Primary by July 24
Friday, July 24, is the deadline to register to vote, update an existing voter registration or apply for an absentee ballot. Residents who miss the deadline may still register and vote using a provisional ballot through Election Day under Virginia’s same-day registration process.

Chesterfield County Airport Hosts School Supply Drive
For the sixth year in a row, the Chesterfield County Airport is holding its school supply drive until August 10. Suggested donation items include new, unused colored pencils, composition notebooks, dry erase markers, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, pencil bags/boxes, pencils, pocket folders, scissors, and washable markers.

Clover Hill Supervisor Holds Community Conversations
Clover Hill District Supervisor Jessica Schneider is planning to host two community conversations with residents, providing residents the opportunity to discuss issues important to them, ask questions and brainstorm solutions. The meetings are scheduled to occur the afternoon of Aug. 10 and the evening of Aug. 17. Registration required.

Historic Castlewood will transform into a Continental Army training barracks and drill ground, bringing to life epic moments of the American Revolution. Learn about Chesterfield’s role in the Revolution from a 1780 Virginia recruit training at the barracks.

Step into a New Era of Pedestrian Safety in Chesterfield
A new pedestrian signal and crosswalk at the intersection of Robious Road, Cranbeck Road, and Mall Drive is now open, giving residents a safer way to cross one of Chesterfield’s busiest intersections. Drivers traveling through will notice several new features to make crossing the road safer, marking another step in the county’s ongoing investment in pedestrian safety.
While the “first walk” has already been completed, every sidewalk, crosswalk, and signal begin long before construction crews arrive. What may look like a straightforward improvement is the result of years of planning, engineering, and investment.
“We’ve seen an uptick, especially since COVID, in pedestrian crashes and fatalities,” said Nate Mathis, principal engineer for the Chesterfield Department of Transportation. “We tackle pedestrian safety in several different ways, from quick improvements like striping, signage, and lighting to larger infrastructure projects like sidewalks and pedestrian crossings.”

This handsome boy is a three-year-old neutered male Pitbull Mix who weighs about 60 pounds! This guy loves to play with toys! He gets so excited, he barks to get you to throw the toy for him! He does have some manners and will sit for treats! He can be a little on the nervous side, but he really comes out of his shell when it's time to play! Carne Frita is athletic so he would be great for a family that likes the outdoors, likes going on walks or has children to play with!

LINK, the on-demand microtransit service from GRTC, is now available in the Clover Dale Zone.

 My First School Bus Helps Kids Prepare for the School Year
To help kids (and parents) prepare for their first school bus ride, Chesterfield Public Library invites residents to My First School Bus. This annual program gives pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students a chance to practice getting on and off a real school bus while learning about school bus safety with Chesterfield County Public Schools and Chesterfield County Police Department.
