For Joe Casey, People Were the Best Part of Being Chesterfield's County Administrator
An accountant by trade, Dr. Joe Casey has an analytical brain capable of processing, understanding, organizing and retaining enormous quantities of information over the course of a typically busy day as Chesterfield’s county administrator.
At heart, though, he’s all about people.
More than any of Chesterfield’s myriad successes and accomplishments under Casey’s leadership, highlighted in a news release announcing his intention to retire July 1, it was the human connections made over the past decade that dominated his reflections as his long career in public service drew to a close.
“It’s the people that made me come here initially. There are 400,000 of them and I think I’ve gotten to know almost all of them in 10 years,” Casey said.

With dangerously high temperatures forecasted across the region, Chesterfield is opening Meadowdale Library this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., to provide residents with a comfortable air-conditioned place to escape the heat.
At this time, all other county buildings, courts and libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and throughout the weekend in observance of the Independence Day holiday. County officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and community demand. If needed, additional county facilities may be opened to provide relief from the heat.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight

Say Hi to Nature's Man!
At a hearty 142 pounds, Nature's Man is practically a miniature horse at this point. He has a goofy personality and loves attention! He loves to play with other dogs -- they just have to be ok with a large play buddy. Nature's Man is very curious, already knows "sit", and (thankfully) walks fairly well on a leash. He was a bit too interested in cats so he would need a no-cat home. He is around 6 years old.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
