Through PlanMod, Chesterfield Proposing Strategies to Address Housing Affordability
Over the seven years since the last major update to Chesterfield’s comprehensive plan, the General Assembly has passed several amendments to the Code of Virginia. One such piece of legislation requires Virginia localities to implement measures for affordable housing that meets residents’ current and future housing needs across all income levels.
In compliance with state code, the county’s ongoing Comprehensive Plan Modernization Project, or PlanMod, will include updates to the plan’s Housing and Neighborhoods chapter to address the challenge of housing affordability.
Once the comprehensive plan is approved by the Board of Supervisors, Chesterfield’s focus will shift to development and implementation of an actionable strategy for promoting affordable housing opportunities, supporting diversity of housing options and connecting housing to services, jobs and recreation.
It’s important to understand that for housing, “affordability” doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone; it varies depending on household size and income.

Meet Short Legs, Don't Care!
Short Legs Don't Care has an equally awesome personality to match his name! He is carefree, happy, and his excitement is contagious. He loves to play with toys with or without you. If you are busy, he will throw the toy up in the air and catch it. He's super silly and is a little bit clumsy due to his abnormally short legs for his body size. When meeting other dogs, he just wanted to play and have a party! He is a Plott Hound mix, around a year old, and weighs 52 lbs.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
