First ZOMod, Now PlanMod: Chesterfield Launches Update to Comprehensive Plan
On the heels of modernizing Chesterfield’s zoning ordinance, the Planning Department has initiated an update to the county’s comprehensive plan.
That process begins with considerable public input already collected during the six-year Zoning Ordinance Modernization Project, or ZOMod, that concluded with approval by the Board of Supervisors last September.
“We received a lot of feedback from the community on ZOMod relative to density and we kept telling folks that’s a conversation to be had regarding the comprehensive plan,” said Rachel Chieppa, planning manager. “As a result of what we heard, this update [known as PlanMod] will make adjustments with those things in mind.”
The comprehensive plan plays a vital role in guiding Chesterfield’s future by shaping how land develops over time. It also informs preparations for future transportation and utility infrastructure, transit and mobility priorities, and community facilities such as schools, parks, libraries and public safety buildings, so these essential investments occur when and where they're needed.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight

Say Hello to Shopkins!
This sweet girl loves her play time, especially when she has time to run around outside! You'll find her having a blast doing zoomies all around or grabbing any toy to play with. She'll even just carry the toy around with her, though she's also a big fan of playing keep away with it. We know she's a smart lady since she already knows "sit," "paw," and "down." She met another dog here at the shelter and liked to play with them. She'd probably do best with another dog that loves to wrestle. Shopkins is a 2-year-old spayed female pitbull mix weighing around 45lbs.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
