Whole Blood Program Brings Innovation and New Standard of Care to Chesterfield
To those near one of Chesterfield’s 23 Fire and EMS stations or the Richmond-Chesterfield Executive Airport, the roar of an ambulance racing by or the thump of helicopter rotors overhead can be piercing. But to someone in the distance, waiting for help to arrive, that faint sound of hope is everything.
When someone calls 911, first responders drop everything at a moment’s notice to not only help someone, but sometimes, to preserve human life.
Chesterfield Fire and EMS is in the business of saving lives and has been quietly unfolding something remarkable in recent years. It’s a program so innovative, it earned a 2025 National Association of Counties Award for reshaping the future of pre-hospital care.
“This is the best thing we’ve ever been able to give trauma patients,” said Lt. Greg Jones.
This is the Whole Blood Program.

Make Some Noise for Music Man!
Music Man is a 1 year old, neutered male, Pitbull, , and he weighs around 60 pounds. He is a goofy boy who loves to run and play. He will play with other dogs, or alone with toys. he doesn't care as long as he can play. Music Man would thrive in an active household or with a big yard where he can zoom around. Due to his energy we recommend that he goes to a home with no cats or other small animals. If you are ready for a little excitement in your life he's the boy for you.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment.
