On a Roll: Chesterfield's Madison Gray Will Represent Team USA at Two International Skating Competitions
What a difference a year has made for local teen Madison Gray.
Gray, a competitive roller skater, fell and hit her head while training last September. She was diagnosed with a severe concussion, the symptoms of which lingered for several months; not only couldn’t she skate, even making it through a full day of school was difficult.
Gray had sufficiently recovered by July to compete at the USA Roller Sports Nationals in Reno, Nevada, where she finished runner-up in the Junior Women’s Division in two events: figures and solo free dance. In the process, she qualified to represent Team USA at two international competitions – the World Figure Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina later this month and the Artistic World Championships in October in Beijing, China.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight

Say hello to Stevie!
We're looking for a special home for our boy Stevie. He was originally found tied to a post at Rockwood Park. We soon discovered that Stevie is completely blind -- that's where he got his name. Understandably, Stevie can be a little shy when he's in a new environment, but once he gets comfortable, he warms up quickly and loves getting attention and cuddles! He even did great meeting another dog, though probably a more chill doggy sibling would be best for him.
Stevie will need some extra love and care to help him thrive, but we know his perfect family is out there. Stevie also will need regular grooming to keep up with his long hair. Stevie is a 2-year-old neutered male Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier mix weighing about 23lbs.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
