In Google, Chesterfield Lands the 'Rolls-Royce of Data Center Operators'
When the Chesterfield Economic Development team set out seven years ago to expand and diversify the county’s commercial tax base by tapping into America’s growing data center industry, it wasn’t looking to attract just any company.
It wound up landing the gold standard: Google.
“Not all data centers are created equal. To work with the Rolls-Royce of data center operators means a lot,” said Midlothian District Supervisor Dr. Mark Miller, vice chair of the Board of Supervisors, at the board’s Aug. 27 meeting.
During an event earlier last Wednesday, Google announced it will build a state-of-the-art data center in Chesterfield as the anchor of $9 billion in new investment across Virginia through 2026.

Men Find Healing, Happiness and Second Chances in Chesterfield's Veterans Treatment Docket Program
Graduation day at Chesterfield County's Veterans Treatment Docket was more than a celebration. It was a recognition of the human spirit’s ability to endure, rebuild, and begin again.
Last Thursday, Aug. 28, the county's Historic 1917 Courthouse was filled with family, friends, mentors, county leadership, federal partners, and those who have dedicated years of public service to creating and facilitating the program. The room was quiet, and the air was thick with emotion as the Hon. Edward A. Robbins began the far-from-typical proceeding.
Two veterans sat before him, marking both the end of a long, painful journey and the beginning of a second chance.

Introducing Silver!
Pretty Silver here is looking for her new home! She's the definition of a gentle giant and of an unbothered queen. She'd rather explore her surroundings than play with toys or eat some treats. She might have been a working dog before her stay here at the shelter. Silver did want to play with the dog she met here, so she might like having another dog in the home! Silver is a 3-year-old Pyrenees mix weighing around 66 lbs.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
