Chesterfield Wins Six Achievement Awards from the Virginia Association of Counties
This month Chesterfield County received six 2025 Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) Achievement Awards, including the Best Large County Achievement for the Court Navigator program.
VACo awarded just 57 of this year’s record-setting 155 submissions statewide. In addition to Court Navigator, Chesterfield's winning entries consisted of innovative programs targeted to Spanish-speaking residents, library patrons, those involved in juvenile justice programs, those battling addiction in the county jail, and those who need information about the land-use and planning process.
In all, Chesterfield continues to lead VACo’s all-time achievement list, earning 60 Achievement Awards since the program’s founding in 2002 with at least one award per year. Henrico is second with 51 and Loudoun is third with 34.

Isn't He Just Dash-ing?
Dash is a handsome boy with very soft, medium-length fur. He was found abandoned in a wire crate in one of the local parks. He was terrified, rightfully so, and is still a little in shell shock here at the shelter.
We are confident that he will really come out of his shell in a home setting where he can gain confidence and feel more comfortable. He's currently about a year old. Could you be the one to give him the happy life he deserves?
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.
