Chesterfield Moving Full Speed Ahead with Powhite Parkway Extension and Adjacent Roadway Projects
As part of a multifaceted approach to mitigating traffic in the fast-growing western Route 360 corridor, the Chesterfield Department of Transportation (CDOT) is moving full speed ahead with an infrastructure project that has been a dotted line on the county’s thoroughfare plan for more than 30 years.
About 100 citizens attended a community meeting Wednesday, June 18 at Clover Hill High School to learn details about Phase I of the Powhite Parkway Extension, ask questions of county staff and elected officials, and provide input on the project and a series of adjacent roadway improvements.
All are intended to make it easier for motorists living in western Chesterfield, the Richmond region’s most desirable area for new residents, to access Powhite Parkway or Route 288 without having to use the heavily traveled Hull Street Road.
All told, the roadway improvements are estimated to cost about $305 million. Provide comment on the project through Friday, July 18 at 5 p.m.

Resources and Useful Information
Connect with a 9-1-1 Dispatcher Using Prepared Live
Heads up, Chesterfield! The county's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) has launched Prepared Live.
This software enables the 9-1-1 dispatch center to receive live streams, multimedia and location information from mobile callers in real time. It greatly improves situational awareness for first responders and ensures that appropriate resources are dispatched to handle emergencies.
Participation in video during a call is completely voluntary and consent of the caller is required. If the caller consents, they will receive a livestream link via text from the dispatcher, enabling them to activate live video upon click.
It’s also important to note that the video call function does not provide Chesterfield ECC with access to the contents or settings of a caller’s phone.
To learn more about this technology and how it can benefit you in an emergency, visit the county website.
