Chesterfield's Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame Welcomes Three New Inductees
Three Chesterfield residents were inducted into the county’s Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame during the 43rd annual ceremony Thursday, June 5, at the Career and Technical Center on Hull Street Road.
Peter Plourd, Robin Hoerber, and Wonnease Rhone were selected for the 2025 class, joining 95 others in the Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame. This year’s 16 nominees have collectively provided more than 108,000 hours of volunteer service since turning 60 years of age.
The Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame was established in 1982 by Dorothy Charles, the Chesterfield Council on Aging and the Board of Supervisors to recognize local seniors who render outstanding volunteer service to the community. It is now administered by the county’s Office of Aging and Disability Resources.

Conversion to New ZOMod Districts Will Have Little Impact on Existing Neighborhoods
What’s in a name? Over the course of six community meetings last month, as well as Planning Department staff office hours at county libraries, the most frequently asked question about the ongoing Zoning Ordinance Modernization Project (ZOMod) has focused on the rezoning of all property in Chesterfield.
We get it. If you own land in Chesterfield, the phrase “countywide rezoning” can sound pretty dramatic. The reality, however, is that for existing neighborhoods and most developed parcels, it’s a technical change that will have little, if any, impact on use of the property.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight

Meet Princess!
Princess is the perfect, medium-sized gal! She's not too big and not too small. We love her short little legs! She walks great on a leash and really enjoys going outside to explore.
She's a bit of a diva- dramatically spitting out treats she doesn't like as if to say, "how dare we!". She would do ok with a submissive dog but is on the dominant side and would clash with dogs who don't submit to her highness. She's around 4 years old.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.

Resources and Useful Information
Connect with a 9-1-1 Dispatcher Using Prepared Live
Heads up, Chesterfield! The county's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) has launched Prepared Live.
This software enables the 9-1-1 dispatch center to receive live streams, multimedia and location information from mobile callers in real time. It greatly improves situational awareness for first responders and ensures that appropriate resources are dispatched to handle emergencies.
Participation in video during a call is completely voluntary and consent of the caller is required. If the caller consents, they will receive a livestream link via text from the dispatcher, enabling them to activate live video upon click.
It’s also important to note that the video call function does not provide Chesterfield ECC with access to the contents or settings of a caller’s phone.
To learn more about this technology and how it can benefit you in an emergency, visit the county website.

School Board Adopts $1.07 Billion Operating Budget
The School Board adopted a $1.07 billion balanced budget for fiscal year 2026 at its June 3 meeting. The budget funds operational costs for the 2025-26 school year while providing resources to meet state requirements, achieve community expectations and retain a high-quality workforce.
The adopted budget reflects an increase of $43.2 million over the 2024-25 fiscal year budget, and it is $17.2 million above the budget proposed in January by Superintendent John Murray because the state and county provided additional funding for public education.
