Celebrate the newly renovated community gardens at Rockwood Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony and kick off to the 2025 season.
|

Renovation of the community gardens at Rockwood Park was completed over the winter. The space is now fully enclosed, the raised beds were replaced, and water spigots added. A few of the 80 spaces remain available for rent to Chesterfield residents for personal gardening.

Join us for a week of fun, friendship, and hands-on learning! Campers will enjoy activities like archery, kayaking, robotics, marine science, and more! Plus, swim time, campfires, and evening programs make for unforgettable memories.
$430 per camper
Scholarships available

Leadership in Training
Teen volunteer opportunity
Teens, ages 14-17, who want to build work experience and skills can apply for the Leadership In Training program, assisting with summer camps for kids. This is an unpaid position that is an opportunity to build leadership skills and make lasting memories.

Interested teens, 14-17 years old, should email ParksRec@Chesterfield.gov with:
- A one-page essay about why you'd like to work at summer camp
- A copy of your most recent report card

📍Sunday, April 13, 1-4 p.m., River City Sportsplex
High flying fun abounds at Kite Day! Kites provided by ServPro to the first 500 kids, ages 12 and under or bring your own. Free rides on the RVA Express provided by Virginia Family Dentistry. There will be music, bounce houses, glitter tattoos and more. Concessions available for purchase.

Construction is nearing completion and A Playground for Katie and Friends at Huguenot Park will officially reopen to the public at 6 p.m., Monday, April 21, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

📍Tuesday, April 22, 2 p.m. Midlothian Mines
You're invited to a marker dedication in memory of the 40 coal miners who lost their lives between 1876 and 1882 in the Grove Shaft Mine, present-day Mid-Lothian Mines Park.

📍Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m-4 p.m., Historic Eppington
Immerse in living history at this special commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the "Shot Heard Round the World" and experience what it was like for colonists as they decide to stand on the side of patriots or loyalists.
