This Year's State of the County Presentation Was Unlike Any in Chesterfield's History
Last Wednesday, Dec. 11, Chesterfield conducted its annual State of the County presentation as a recording of the Behind the Mic podcast for the first time in front of a live audience.
During the Chesterfield Chamber’s monthly luncheon at CTC Hull, podcast host Brad Franklin spoke with the county's new police chief, Col. Frank Carpenter, and interim school Superintendent Dr. John Murray, then interviewed a panel including County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey, Deputy County Administrator Jesse Smith, Procurement Director Stephanie Brown and Social Media Coordinator Katie Cominsky.
The new format is another example of Chesterfield’s willingness to think outside the box, be creative and do things in ways it never has before.

County's Plan for Allocating Pandemic Relief Funds Has Evolved Over the Past Three Years
In July 2021, the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors conducted a public hearing to consider appropriation of $68.5 million in COVID-19 pandemic relief funding under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Subsequent public hearings have taken place as federal regulations evolved, reallocating funds to meet community needs and align with updated guidance from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
In the interest of transparency, the board will hold a final public hearing this Wednesday, Dec. 18 to update residents about how the county has deployed its ARPA funds, which must be fully obligated by the end of this year.

Adoptable Pet Spotlight

This handsome chap is Pinto Bean!
Pinto Bean loves sporting the Christmas wear. He enjoyed posing for his photos, but we had to take them quickly because he would zoom off for his squeaky ball. It's his favorite!
Pinto Bean is around 2 years old and is still just a goofy puppy. After a long run outside, he came in to lounge on our sofa, with a toy in his mouth. He is still learning not to jump on people so he needs a home with no small children. He may accidentally knock them down.
If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "2," to schedule an appointment. Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Our shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road.

Resources and Useful Information
Connect with a 9-1-1 Dispatcher Using Prepared Live
Heads up, Chesterfield! The county's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) has launched Prepared Live.
This software enables the 9-1-1 dispatch center to receive live streams, multimedia and location information from mobile callers in real time. It greatly improves situational awareness for first responders and ensures that appropriate resources are dispatched to handle emergencies.
Participation in video during a call is completely voluntary and consent of the caller is required. If the caller consents, they will receive a livestream link via text from the dispatcher, enabling them to activate live video upon click.
It’s also important to note that the video call function does not provide Chesterfield ECC with access to the contents or settings of a caller’s phone.
To learn more about this technology and how it can benefit you in an emergency, visit the county website.
