Local, State Officials Discuss Importance of Workforce Training to Growing Economy
As they do every December, members of Chesterfield’s two elected governing bodies – the Board of Supervisors and School Board – held a joint meeting with state lawmakers who represent the county last Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Beulah Recreation Center.
Natalie Spillman, Chesterfield’s intergovernmental relations director, and Shawn Smith, chief of communications and community engagement for Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS), began by outlining their respective organizations’ legislative priorities for the upcoming 2025 General Assembly session.
The focus of this year’s presentation, however, was synergy between the county’s success in attracting job-creating commercial projects and the school system’s vital role in workforce development.
