This communication is being sent to HR Administrators, Functional Interface Contacts, and Technical Interface contacts for agencies that have elected to display the Cardinal Total Rewards Statement, but do not use Cardinal Absence Management. |

Cardinal has identified an opportunity to enhance data accuracy for agencies using HCM to generate Total Rewards Statements for their employees.
Currently, salaried employees may encounter incomplete results within their Total Rewards Statements in Cardinal. To address this and ensure comprehensive data is included, agency HR Administrators should update the Alternate Leave Plan field on the Employment Data page with the employee’s leave program (e.g., VSDP Elig Group).
Why it Matters: Enhancing Total Rewards Statements
By accurately populating the Alternate Leave Plan field, the application will automatically include benefit cost details related to the employee’s leave program. This ensures their Total Rewards Statements reflect a comprehensive overview of their benefits and entitlements. Click the button below to view a comparison.

Action Required: Verify & Update Salaried Employees' Employment Data
To rectify potential discrepancies on the Cardinal Total Rewards Statements, agencies should validate salaried employees’ Alternate Leave Plan field and update as needed.
-
Confirm Eligibility Group: Run the V_HR_JOB_MASS_DATA_CHANGE query to verify that all salaried employees (Employee Type = S) have a valid Eligibility Group populated.
-
Update the Alternate Leave Plan field: Populate the “Alternate Leave Plan” field on the Employment Data page with the employee’s leave program (e.g., VSDP Elig Group).

Important Deadlines and Dates to Remember
The Total Rewards Statements are generated on the first day of each month. Any data updates made in the current month will be reflected in the following month’s statement (e.g., April updates appear on May 1 statements).
To guarantee employees see updated benefit cost calculations on their May 1, 2024, Total Rewards Statement, agencies will need to ensure correct values are entered into the Alternate Leave Plan field by Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Methods for Updating the Alternate Leave Plan Field
To add or update this data, agencies may use one of the following methods:
-
Manual Entry: Manually key the employee’s leave plan into the Alternate Leave Plan field on the Job Data, Employment Data page.
-
Job Data Mass Upload: For agencies with numerous updates, the Job Data Mass Upload template offers an efficient solution.
- This template was revised on April 2, 2024; ensure you are using the most recent version. Follow the Performing a Mass Upload job aid for support.

Interfacing Agencies
If your agency interfaces with Cardinal through an agency specific HR system, please confirm that the Alternate Leave Plan field is correctly updated in your system. Validate that this field populates into Cardinal through the next HR003 Employee Data Upload file.
- Ensure your HR003 Employment Data Upload reflects the correct Alternate Leave Plan in the GP_ELIG_GRP
- The Action and Reason combination code for changes to the Alternate Leave Plan field is “Data Change”/“Data Change”.
- The effective date for this change does not need to be retroactive and can be the current effective date.
