The Natural Chimneys Jousting Club will be holding a demonstration at Natural Chimneys Park & Campground.
Watch the riders thunder down the track on horseback with the skill and precision that the modern sport of jousting requires. This Demo Day is designed to be fan-friendly, so feel free to chat with the riders and learn more about the “Sport of Kings.”

Natural Chimneys Pool Hours for Open Swim: Sundays-Wednesdays 12PM – 5PM Thursdays-Saturdays 12PM – 6PM
There is a Junior Olympic size pool at Natural Chimneys with a spray water feature and the pool depth ranges from beach access up to five feet. The pool house features a changing area and restroom facilities for all users.

Inside the fenced pool area at the Stuarts Draft Park pool is a picnic shelter which is ideal for serving food or snacks. This shelter has 6 picnic tables that can accommodate 36 people. The pool deck also contains a dozen lounge chairs..

Daily Admission is $4 per person. Under age 3 FREE! Cash and checks are accepted at both pool locations. Credit cards are also accepted at Natural Chimneys, but are not currently accepted at Stuarts Draft Pool. Weather can be unpredictable. Swim Lessons Ages 3-12
Swim lessons are offered based on the child’s age as well as the following skill levels. If you are unsure which level of swim lesson to place your child in, please call our office for assistance.

Beginner: For the child who has never had swimming lessons or the child who is apprehensive about submerging his/her/their faceand head in water. For ages 3-5 or 6-12.

Intermediate: For the child who has had previous lessons and is comfortable above and underwater. The child should be able to swimwith a flutter kick, arm stroke and float on both their back and front with minimal assistance. For ages 6-12.
The swim lessons consist of 25 minutes of instruction followed by 5 minutes of play. Each session of swim lessons has a minimum number of participants required, but there is also a maximum number of participants allowed in each session to ensure a quality, individualized experience for all participants. Makeup dates for each session will be shared upon registration.

Sporting Clays Learn-To-Shoot Ages 8+
Never shot clay targets and want to try? Come out to The Flying Rabbit Sporting Clays in Mount Crawford to learn the basics of sporting clay shooting! Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of clay target shooting including safe firearm handling, proper stance and gun mount. Cost includes instruction, gun rental, ammunition and clays. Please dress for the weather (wear layers if possible); class will go on during light rain, but will be cancelled for heavy rain or lightening. All equipment and safety gear will be provided. Any participant under age 18 must have a parent present at all times. Instructor is Danny Harding or Tracy Harding. Register at least one week before start of class.

 Natural Bridge All Ages
Natural Bridge State Park has been designated as a Virginia Historical Landmark and a National Historical Landmark. Once owned by Thomas Jefferson, the 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek. The newest Virginia State Park is more than just the bridge, the living history programs connect you to the past and cover how people once used the area’s resources for survival and inspiration. Our group will have a guided tour and afterwards time will be provided to explore the indoor exhibits and gift shop. This is an outdoor walking tour so please be prepared for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Lunch on your own will be at the Pink Cadillac Diner. Fee includes transportation, admission and tour. Register by May 9.

DC Pick and Choose All Ages
The choice is yours, choose to be dropped off at either the National Mall OR the National Zoo. The National Mall is a great swath of green in the middle of the capital city stretching from the United States Capitol to the Potomac River and is home to numerous museums, monuments and memorials. You will have several hours to visit the sites of your choice at your own pace. Admission is free to most museums. At the National Zoo about 1,800 animals from 300 different species reside at the 163-acre zoo. The best known residents are the giant pandas, but the zoo is also home to great apes, big cats, Asian elephants, birds, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals and many more! Fee includes transportation. Register by May 18.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers year-round beauty on a historic property with more than 50 acres of spectacular gardens. Tour the classical domed Conservatory, which is the only one of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic, and enjoy more than a dozen themed gardens that include a Rose Garden, Asian Valley and Cherry Tree Walk. Pathways will draw you to parts of the garden that delight you around every turn. Basic Emergency Preparedness Ages 18+
Learn to prepare for a storm or disaster, how and when to decide to ride it out or evacuate and what to do after the storm has passed. This class will prepare you for what to expect and what to do when a Katrina, a Texas winter storm power grid down or a water emergency level event hits where you live. How can you and your family stay safe and weather the storm? Participants will learn about preparing your home and vehicle, situational awareness and first aid kit essentials. Instructor is Kevin Blackburn. Register at least one week before start of class.

NRA Firearm Safety Ages 18+
This is a five-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling, primary causes of firearms accidents, firearm parts, how to load and unload certain action types, ammunition components, cleaning, care, safe storage of firearms and ammunition and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive a course completion certificate. Safety comes before all else. This class will meet requirements for the Virginia Concealed Carry Permit. Instructor also has extensive knowledge of the Criminal and Civil Liabilities pertaining to CCW Permit holders while carrying concealed and if you are forced to defend yourself with your firearm. Please do not bring guns to class. Instructor is Jim Wood, NRA Certified Instructor. Register at least one week before start of class.

Utah Concealed Carry Permit Ages 21+
The Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) is one of the most sought-after permits because with it law-abiding citizens may legally carry a firearm concealed in 39 states. The Utah CFP course is classroom based and taught by NRA certified & Utah BCI certified instructors. Course instruction includes the following topics: Utah criminal and traffic code, U.S. federal firearms regulations, BCI administration policy, practical and legal considerations and more. Although this is NOT a live fire course and range time is not required, participants are encouraged to cultivate their marksmanship skills by scheduling one-on-one firearms training at the range with a qualified instructor. Class cost includes a course completion certificate, instruction on obtaining your FBI fingerprinting (which is required by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification) and passport photo service to help expedite the submitting of your application. Each course participant packet contains course handouts of material covered, a blue FBI fingerprint card and a Utah Non-Resident CFP application. Any U.S. citizen may apply for a non-resident Utah CFP after taking this required course. Before applying for the Utah CFP, you must obtain a concealed carry permit from your home state. Once applying for the Utah CFP a criminal background check will be conducted. Please do not bring guns to class. Instructor is Jim Wood, NRA & Utah BCI Certified Instructor. Basic Wilderness Skills & Field Craft Ages 18+
The knowledge and skills required to enjoy and survive the outdoors are useful for more than just a weekend camping or day hiking trip. This class will help you to prepare for the outdoors, enjoy it and have plan for what to do when things go sideways so you and others can get home safely. Learn P.A.C.E. planning, basic navigation, tips, tricks and more. This is a basic fundamental skills class with no overnight camping and is designed to introduce you to these skills. This is not a survival or hunter safety class. Instructor is Kevin Blackburn. Register by May 11.

AARP Smart Driver is a driver improvement course specially designed for motorists age fifty and older to help drivers refine existing skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques. Yoga for Mood Management Ages 16+
In our modern world countless people struggle with mental and emotional challenges such as stress, anxiety, loneliness, addiction and depression. Yoga offers a variety of beneficial “tools” to work with these states and to improve our mental health and resiliency. These can be used as an alternative to or in conjunction with conventional therapies and approaches. Participants will learn a variety of evidence-based practices and interventions to boost energy, create a calm and focused mind, balance your mood and improve your overall state of mind and wellbeing. No experience or flexibility required! Please bring a small blanket or a thick towel and yoga mat. If you don’t have a mat, there will be mats available. Instructor is Carey McCallum, certified yoga instructor and longtime meditation practitioner. Register at least one week before start of class.
