The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is proud to announce the release of its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of innovation, collaboration and service. The report showcases key accomplishments that reflect the office’s commitment to operating a safe and rehabilitative detention facility, investing in staff wellness and development, and strengthening engagement throughout the Arlington community.
"From community outreach and youth self-defense education to the daily operations inside our detention facility, 2025 was a year defined by connection, collaboration, and service," said Sheriff Jose Quiroz. "We made meaningful investments in rehabilitation, staff wellness, medical care, and community engagement while continuing to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone we serve. This report reflects the dedication of our deputy sheriffs, civilian staff, medical professionals, volunteers, and community partners who make this work possible every day."
2025 Highlights and Initiatives
The 2025 Annual Report offers a comprehensive overview of each division’s contributions to the agency’s mission. Highlights include:
- Corrections and Rehabilitation: ACSO successfully transitioned to a self-operated medical care model with the appointment of its first Chief Medical Director, Dr. Richard Malish. The office expanded access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), including continued use of Sublocade and Suboxone, while programs such as the Community Readiness Unit (CRU), Addiction Corrections Treatment (ACT), and the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice continued to support rehabilitation and successful reentry.
- Innovation and Technology: The Sheriff's Office enhanced services within the Arlington County Detention Facility by opening a 24/7 micro-market for staff, expanding wellness initiatives, and continuing the use of advanced biometric monitoring technology to improve care for medically vulnerable individuals in custody.
- Community Engagement: ACSO strengthened relationships throughout Arlington by participating in dozens of community events such civic association meetings, National Night Out, and youth outreach programs. ACSO also partnered with local schools and organizations to provide self-defense education and safety programming for young women and community members.
- Family Connection and Rehabilitation: Programs such as Parenting Classes and Hugs of Hope Days provided meaningful opportunities for incarcerated parents to connect with their children, reinforcing the Sheriff's Office's commitment to rehabilitation through family engagement and human connection.
- Staff Development and Wellness: ACSO continued investing in its workforce through retention initiatives, expanded wellness resources, mentorship opportunities, and professional development. The K9 Unit also received new protective equipment to enhance operational safety while continuing to support community engagement and public safety initiatives.
The 2025 Annual Report also includes statistics, operational highlights, and stories demonstrating how the Arlington County Sheriff's Office continues to advance public safety through collaboration, innovation, and compassionate service.
