Prepare for Leaf Collection Season The fall vacuum leaf collection season starts in a few weeks! The 2025 Fall Leaf Collection brochure offers answers to frequently asked questions and tips on managing leaves and yard waste. In addition, note these important dates: Vacuum Leaf Collection Program: Nov. 10–Dec. 19 (no collection on Nov. 27 – Thanksgiving Day) Free Paper Yard Waste Bags: Available starting Oct. 27 at select locations (while supplies last) Christmas Tree Collection & Recycling: Jan. 5–16, 2026 Find more information in the 2025 Fall Leaf Collection brochure.

Fall 2025 E-CARE on Nov. 8 The fall 2025 Environmental Collection and Recycling (E-CARE) event is happening Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, at 1425 N Quincy St. This free, biannual event allows Arlington residents to safely dispose of household hazardous materials (HHMs) and old electronics. Small metal items will also be accepted, and Bikes for the World will be taking bicycles and bike parts as donations. Find a list of accepted and unaccepted materials as you prepare for Fall 2025 E-CARE.

Drop-Off Your Old Halloween Costume

Don’t let your old Halloween costume haunt your closet—or worse, end up in a landfill. The Solid Waste Bureau is accepting gently used Halloween costumes after the holiday for future costume swap events. Drop off your donations at:

• Fall 2025 E-CARE (1425 N Quincy St.)
  Saturday, Nov. 8, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Solid Waste Bureau (4300 29th St. S)
  Nov. 3 – Nov. 14, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday

Please make sure of the following:

• Costumes should be in good or excellent condition. No rips, tears or stains, unless it’s part of the costume.
• Include all clothing and accessories that are part of the costume. We will not accept individual pieces.
• Clean costumes are appreciated (if they can be washed).

Speaking of Halloween, remember to toss your pumpkins in the green organics cart at home after the holiday. Additionally, residents in multifamily buildings can throw away small and crushed pumpkins at an on-street composting bin. Be sure to remove decorations, paint and other inorganic materials from pumpkins before placing them in your cart or a composting bin.
