Arlington County Celebrates Start of Construction on Additional Entrance for Crystal City Metro Station

Last week, Arlington County staff, leaders and representatives from project partners around the region celebrated the start of construction of a new entrance for the Crystal City Metro Station.

About the Project

The second entrance on Crystal Drive will be located about two blocks downhill from the current South Bell Street entrance, and will go all the way down to the east end of the platform underground. This additional access point will help people spread out on the platform and avoid crowding on one end, and will provide a closer connection for folks transferring to or from VRE, Amtrak, and local transit service on Crystal Drive.

What to Expect During Construction

Construction has begun, and lanes and sidewalks adjacent to the project site are closed. As the project progresses, closures may shift, and Metrorail service at Crystal City Metro will close to allow crews to build the new mezzanine safely. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2027.

PARKing Day

Give Feedback on Transit Throughout the Region

ART Bus

DMVMoves is conducting a survey to understand what you want to see in the future of public transportation in the region. The collected feedback will help inform their joint to help create the vision for transit planning moving forward.

What is DMVMoves Anyway?

DMVMoves is an initiative by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and WMATA to bring together transportation leaders from around the region to plan transit connectivity under shared goals.

What Kind of Feedback Do They Need?

The survey asks what kind of trips you take the most, what's missing in our region's transit network, what would help you get around by transit for regular (non-work) trips, and more.

Share your feedback online; the last day to participate is August 4.
