Accelerate Report

The Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE) has released its second annual “ACCELRATE” report, illustrating the County’s award-winning efforts to make a more sustainable community through buildings, resilience, renewable energy, transportation, government activities, and education and behavioral change. "ACCELERATE” features Arlington’s core work pertaining to energy, climate and the environment, and reflects a multi-sector, cross-disciplinary approach that generates an all-of-government commitment to a sustainable, dynamic future. Key highlights from 2023 include a progress update on CEP Roadmap Years 1-2, our LEED Platinum Cities status achievement and the Zero Emissions Bus Study and Transition. Comparative Performance Dashboard 

To reinforce the advancement of the County’s operations on a variety of energy and sustainability performance metrics and to serve as a public information resource, a Comparative Performance Dashboard has been published comparing Arlington’s performance to other local jurisdictions. This reference tool displays comparative metrics through graphs and descriptions on buildings, renewables, county government operations, transportation, and behavioral change and market transformation.

Come down to Arlington Mill Community Center to enjoy a variety of crafts, demonstrations and projects designed to inspire us to live a little greener! Learn about container gardening, help remove invasive plants growing along Four Mile Run trail and more! This is a free event perfect for all ages! Registration Encouraged.

Energy Tips: Solar Co-Ops Now Available!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Solarize Virginia, a campaign dedicated to accelerating Virginia's transition to solar energy. From April 1st to June 30th, Arlington County residents can join Solarize Virginia to embark on a mission to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for Virginians. Solar Switch

The Solar Switch program, offered together with non-profit Solar United Neighbors, provides homeowners with affordable solar panel and battery storage system installations through a group buying program. It is free to register, and there are no obligations to move forward with a solar installation, making it safe and easy for Arlington County residents to join the program.
