W&OD Trail Detouring onto Four Mile Run Trail

Starting this week, the W&OD trail near Sparrow Pond in Ballston is detouring to Four Mile Run trail until approximately early April 2024.

  • W&OD trail users headed southbound will take the trail spur to the Four Mile Run trail just after S Park Drive near the Glencarlyn dog park. The detour will rejoin the W&OD at the 9th St S trail spur.
  • W&OD trail users headed northbound will be directed to the Four Mile Run trail at 9th St South. Local traffic can access the 7th St S trail exit. The detour will rejoin the W&OD near the Glencarlyn dog park.

Expect increased pedestrian and bike traffic on the trail during the detour. Cyclists, please follow "Slow" and "Dismount" signage to ensure everyone's safety.

The detour will allow the construction team to finish the new outfall that will connect Sparrow Pond to Four Mile Run. The new outfall will provide long-term stability and resilience for Sparrow Pond and the trails. Learn more on the project page.
