Better Buildings Challenge Recognition at the White House
We are excited to announce that through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Buildings Challenge, we have achieved our energy use intensity reduction goal of 23% since 2009! County Board Chairman Christian Dorsey spoke to the achievement during a DOE-sponsored event recently held at the White House. As a 2023 Goal Achiever, the County joins other leading organizations driving portfolio-wide efficiency and emissions innovation. Read more on how we achieved our savings goal here.
C-PACE Project Success
Arlington County was the top dog in sniffing out its second C-PACE project. The Arlington Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program is helping with the weatherization, electrification and water efficiency of Snouts and Stouts – the only indoor dog park and bar in Northern Virginia. These upgrades will account for improvements to the building’s shell and the building’s heating and cooling system.

Fall E-CARE
The Arlington Environmental Collection and Recycling Event (E-CARE) is a biannual environmentally friendly drop-off event at which residents can safely dispose of household hazardous materials HHM and old electronics. You can drop off items on Sat., Nov. 4 from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm at Wakefield High School. View the accepted materials list.
Energy Report: Accelerate
Have you seen our recent progress? The Accelerate Report highlights Arlington’s completed core work pertaining to energy, climate and the environment. The first edition of the annual Accelerate Report was published in the spring and covers projects, programs and policies. Each report will contain fresh new stories to maintain viability, transparency and features Arlington’s key successes.
Energy Tip
As outside temperatures fall, energy costs begin to rise. Whether you're a homeowner or a renter, you can save on your energy bills by completing any of the DOE's Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Energy Saver Projects. These projects offer step-by-step instructions to energy efficiency improvements. Read more.
