What's Happening at Long Bridge
New Membership Trial!
Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center is opening its doors to all Arlington Community Fitness Members for a membership trial! From Fri., Aug. 11- Fri., Aug. 25, all County-wide fitness member holders including annual, 6-month, 3-month, student, teen and 55+ Gold pass users will have full access to Long Bridge for two weeks. Come down to Long Bridge and find out what all the hype is about!
Machine Circuit
Lift more than you thought you could with a coach encouraging you on new equipment you have not tried before on Thursdays from noon-12:45 p.m. Drop in for $5 for adults and $4 for ages 55+ with a LBAFC fitness membership. Learn more here.
Yoga
Drop in for yoga to flow and connect one posture to the next… breathe through your poses to balance and enhance strength on Mondays from 6-6:45 p.m. and Thursdays from 1-1:45 p.m. Drop in for $5 for adults and $4 for ages 55+ with a LBAFC fitness membership. Learn more here.
Muscle Blast
Drop in and get your heartrate up and your resistance training in with weight, TRX, kettlebell, ball, BOSU or band exercises on Tuesdays from noon-12:45 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15 a.m. We’ll work most muscles and challenge your balance before stretching it out in this indoor muscle blast class. Drop in for $5 for adults and $4 for ages 55+ with a LBAFC fitness membership. Learn more here.
Cycle
Warm-up, climb, sprint, interval train and cool-down. Any fitness level is welcome to drop in and go at your own pace on Mondays from 6:30-7:15 a.m. and Fridays from 12:15-1 p.m. Drop in for $5 for adults and $4 for ages 55+ with a LBAFC fitness membership. Learn more here.

Last Teen Saturday Trip Series of the Summer!

Columbia Pike Movie Nights
Watch free movies under the stars on Fridays and Saturdays in August at Arlington Mill Community Center and Penrose Square. All movies start at sunset (between 8 and 8:30 pm) and are shown in English with Spanish subtitles. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs/blankets, etc. Leashed pets are welcome. The Virginia State Insect Nature Photo Walk
Capture a butterfly with your camera on Sun., Aug. 20 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Long Branch Nature Center! We'll learn about the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, Virginia’s State Insect and look for this species and other butterflies on our walk along the park's trails. Photography guidance will be provided. History Hikes: The Skirmish at Ball’s Crossroads
Join park staff on Sun., Aug. 27 from 10 a.m.-noon at Bluemont Park for a two-mile hike and learn about the skirmish that broke out between Union and Confederate parties to the east of modern-day Ballston. We will follow the path of the Union skirmishers and learn about the events that caused this fatal engagement. This program is for families and is free. Learn more and sign up here.
