County Manager Shares Proposed FY 2024 Budget

Arlington Reflects on One Year of the Ukrainian War

Over the past year, Ukraine has resisted Russian influence with unwavering support from the U.S. and the international community. Arlington County is proud to maintain a show of support and solidarity for Ukraine and Arlington’s sister city, Ivano-Frankivsk. Join us for a remembrance on the one-year anniversary of the war on Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. at the flagpole at the Bozman Government Center (2100 Clarendon Blvd).

More Online Permitting Coming to Arlington

Arlington County is expanding Permit Arlington, its online permitting system, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, when Certificate of Occupancy applications and inspections will move into the online system.

• Nominate a woman who has improved lives and opportunities for Arlington residents, especially women and girls, for the 2023 Women of Vision Awards. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 24.
• Join the Site Plan Review Committee to learn about the proposed plans for the Wells Fargo/Verizon site at a hybrid public meeting on Feb. 27.
• Tell us your thoughts on the conversion of the tennis courts at Walter Reed to a dedicated pickleball facility through Feb. 28.
• Arlington County’s Continuum of Care/Homeless Response System is hosting several in-person community conversations in February and March to receive input on the Arlington, Virginia Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.
• Arlington’s Climate Change, Energy and Environment Commission (C2E2) is now accepting applications for open seats. Volunteer your time and provide valuable input pertaining to the environment. Apply today!

• County Manager Mark Schwartz announced the appointments of Dr. Aaron Miller as the Deputy County Manager for Public Safety and Information Technology and Mr. William Flagler, Jr. as the Director of the Department of Public Safety Communications and Emergency Management (DPSCEM).
• The Uncle Devin Live Show brings an interactive musical experience for children on Feb. 28 at Columbia Pike Library.
• 2023 business license tax filings and, if applicable, payments, are due on or before March 1, 2023, 11:59 PM EST. All returns should be filed online through the Customer Assessment & Payment Portal (CAPP).
• The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will no longer provide extra benefits that were added during the pandemic after February 2023. SNAP recipients will return to their standard benefits starting in March. Have questions? Call (703) 228-1350.
• School students from kindergarten to 6th grade can show how public transportation helps create a more sustainable environment by sharing artworks with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in honor of Earth Day. The deadline for entries is March 1.
• The Dulles Toll Road will move to an all-electronic and cashless payment system on March 1.
• Arlington Department of Human Services will host the opening of its Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Art Showcase on March 2.
• Arlington County Fire Department shared information on changes to charging electronic transportation devices in multifamily residential buildings.
