Along with our adapted programs and classes, there are a variety of other offerings from sports, nature, art, fitness, family events, teen programs and more! You will be sure to find something for everyone.
Mark your calendar for registration to begin for the spring season with staggering dates starting on March 7 at noon (each day):

Tues., March 7 – Gymnastics classes (including adapted gymnastics)

Wed., March 8 – Aquatics/Private Swim classes (including adapted aquatics)

Thurs., March 9 – Nature Center and General classes (including all other adapted classes and programs)

Fri., March 10 – Walk-in registration

Wed., March 15 – Registration for non-Arlington residents.
Arlington County provides camps that keep kids engaged, active, and focused on expanding their horizons!
Explore our Summer Camp Catalog for 10 weeks of camps from June 20-August 25, 2023. This year, we will be staggering registration by camp provider type - Partner camps and Arlington County Parks & Recreation camps.
Please note early registration is for those who qualify for Fee Reductions or, select Parks & Rec camps for individuals with disabilities, which is specifically intended for Camp Discovery and Project FIVE- see page 39.
- This early registration period begins on Monday, March 13 starting at Noon- 5pm
- It will then continue to run Tuesday, March 14 through Saturday, March 18, during regular business hours between 8am-5pm
- Any early registration opportunities will only be available by phone (703.228.4747) or in person at Lubber Run Community Center, 300 N. Park Drive
If your camper does not qualify for either of those early registration criteria above, you should plan to do the following:
New Registration Dates & Times Registration
Summer Camp will open to Arlington County Residents on a rolling basis, staggering enrollments by camp provider type. Registration on all days below will be available online, by phone (703.228.4747) or in person and will begin at 12 p.m.
The catalog is organized into sections based on the registration dates:
- Partner Camps Registration will open Tue., March 21 at Noon. See page 8.
- Parks & Rec Camps Registration will open Tue., March 28 at Noon. See page 34.
- Community Camps manage their own registrations. See page 40.

TR Family Nights Out are programs designed for families with a member with a disability to recreate together and connect with other families.
Roller Skate Night
Join us on Saturday, March 11 from 6pm-9pm at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center for a night of roller skating.

Family Float
Are you ready to make a splash? Join us Saturday, April 8 from 2pm-4pm at the Long Bridge Aquatic Center for a fun-filled afternoon of water play and open swim. We will have sole use of the leisure pool for this event.

Join us for a daytime campfire! Come socialize, learn about nature, and relax by the fire in the great outdoors. A naturalist from one of the nature centers will make a guest appearance to share their knowledge and expertise. Be sure to check our TR website for program and registration updates!

The Therapeutic Recreation Office is committed to supporting individuals in recreation activities by:

Creating and sharing modification plans - Please send a completed Participant Modification Information form to trinfo@arlingtonva.us to start the process, if we don’t already have one on file.

Conducting class and program observations upon request.
- Supporting instructors and parent/guardians as to how to implement various supports, upon request.

Providing additional staff support when available, however this is not guaranteed.

Adapted Aquatics is a learn-to-swim program for children and adults with developmental disabilities and is supported by volunteers.
Volunteers will work one-on-one with participants in the water to strengthen and develop basic swim skills. Volunteers must be strong swimmers, comfortable in the water and enthusiastic about helping people learn.
