Special Delivery: Spring 55+ Guide

Explore the spring 55+ Guide for three months of exciting activities! We have plenty of programs to keep you active and engaged, including art classes, fitness programs, social events and more. Registration begins Wed., Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. for Arlington County participants and Thurs., Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. for out of county participants. Programs begin in March, but check the 55+ Guide for specific start dates.

 

Helpful Information

  • You must pre-register for all programs except those designated as drop-in.
  • The 55+ Guide is digital and designed to view online or print at home.
  • You may register directly through the online 55+ Guide. Just click on the registration number for the class of your choice beginning Wed., Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.

Registration Opens Wed., Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.

  • 55+ Pass is required to register. See page 2 of the 55+ Guide to find out how to sign up for a 55+ Pass. If you have questions, call 703-228-4747 or email registration@arlingtonva.us
  • For virtual programs, please register at least two business days prior to the program (i.e., Thursday for a Monday activity) so we can send you the link in time.

Affordable Connectivity Program Fair 

Thurs., March 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Walter Reed

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program run by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to help low income households pay for internet service and connected devices like laptops and tablets. Vendors will be on site to assist eligible households with enrollment and to answer any questions. Sponsored by the Alliance for Arlington Senior ProgramsSign up here (#913899-01).

55+ Fitness Day and Health Fair 

Wed., May 31, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Lubber Run. Drop-in

Join us for National Senior Health and Fitness Day! There will be vision and hearing screenings; fall risk assessments; fitness class demonstrations; Q&As with dietitians, pharmacists and insurance counselors; and more! This event is free and open to all – no 55+ Pass is required. Sponsors include Arlington Neighborhood Village, Marymount University, Virginia Hospital Center and Arlington 55+ Programs.

New Programs, So Much to Explore

The 55+ Office has been hard at work on the schedule of programs for this spring, and we have brand-new activities to prove it! Samba, Family Feud, Story Circle and Aqua for Arthritis are all happening at 55+ Centers for the first time this spring, just to name a few. Keep an eye out for the "new" icon throughout the 55+ Guide to explore all the exciting programs you haven't tried before!


Please Note:

For programs with both in-person and virtual sign up options, participants may view the presentation on screen at the 55+ Center or from a computer at home unless otherwise stated in the program description. Register separately for the in-person or virtual format based on your preference.


Reimagine Aging

Mon., March 20, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Join key county staff, Commission on Aging members and community partners for the 2023 Community Engagement Forum on Aging Issues. This event will feature an interactive discussion on what matters most to older Arlingtonians and a talk by Keynote Speaker Susan Ryan, senior director with the Green House Project. Event held in-person at Unitarian Universalist Church (4444 Arlington Blvd) or register to attend virtually over Zoom.
