Vision Zero Team to Share Progress on Year 2

Arlington County’s Vision Zero Team released a progress report for the Vision Zero Action Plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the County. Read the Year 2 Vision Zero Mid-Year Report and bring your questions and suggestions to a public meeting next Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

Technomics, Inc. Expands in Arlington

Data analytics company Technomics, Inc. announced that it will invest $1.7 million to expand its footprint in Arlington County and create 150 new jobs.

• Join a walking tour of the Wakefield Manor site (2025 North Fairfax Drive) on Friday, Dec. 2.
• Share your thoughts on the development plan for The Arva, a new mixed-use residential building, through Dec. 5
• The National Parks Service will host a virtual public meeting on Dec. 6 to discuss improvements for the Mount Vernon Trail.
• Attend a virtual public meeting to discuss conceptual designs for major intersections along South George Mason Drive on Dec. 7.
• Share your feedback on the proposed site plan for Crystal Towers 3 through Dec. 8.
• Looking to volunteer your time to benefit the Arlington community? Several commissions and advisory groups are currently looking to fill vacancies.

• Bring your paper products for free shredding and drop off inert materials on Dec. 3.
• Make the holidays brighter for children in need by participating in Arlington County Police Department’s Fill the Cruiser holiday toy drives on Dec. 4 and Dec. 7.
• Medicare open enrollment runs through Dec. 7. Check out these tips from Arlington Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP), which offers free, confidential and unbiased one-on-one Medicare counseling.
• Arlington Public Library is hosting a donation-based Holiday Gift Nook on Dec. 10-11 at Central Library.
• Need support getting meals during the holidays? Arlington’s Department of Human Services has a list of food assistance programs and organizations to help.
• Arlington County’s hypothermia shelter is now open through March 2023. If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness and needs emergency shelter, call 703-228-1010.

Arlington County Parks and Recreation will deliver children’s letters to Santa Claus this holiday season. Drop off letters at the special mailbox outside the Robert Walker Log Cabin at the Gulf Branch Nature Center through Dec. 16. You can also bring non-perishable food donations for Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to place next to the mailbox.
