Long Branch @ 50 Celebration

Come celebrate 50 years of Long Branch Nature Center on Sat., Nov. 5, 1-4 p.m. with live music from Rick Franklin, food from A Toda Madre, exhibitors and a history program about spy Robert Hanssen. Help us celebrate and imagine the next 50 years! Register so we know you’re coming! Free to attend. Learn more and sign up here. Walk-ins welcome. Red Cross Babysitting Class 

Tweens and teens – sign up for the Red Cross Babysitting class on Sat., Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Arlington Mill Community Center to get skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Participants 11-17 will develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and more. This class costs $85 (but the fee is reduced to those that qualify for fee reductions.)  Sign up here. 


Family Fun

Family Fun Night

Fall into fun at this free, fun, drop-in family night on Fri., Nov. 4, 6-8 p.m. at Carver Community Center. You and your family will enjoy inflatables, our game room and creative crafts. Learn more hereThis program is open to all ages. Youth participants must be supervised by an adult. Inflatable lines will close ten minutes before event end time.

Saturday Crafternoons!

Come get crafty and messy creating marbled paper on Sat., Nov. 12 at our Second Saturday Crafternoon! Drop into the Fairlington Community Center Art Studio (room 130) any time between 1:30-3:30 p.m. All ages are welcome; however, children must be accompanied by an adult. Learn more here. 


Open Bounce is Back!  

Jump with us! Children ages 3-9 can bounce freely indoors with three bounce houses at Lubber Run on Nov. 5 and Madison Community Centers on Nov. 12 & 19. Only $3 per child. Adults (age 18+) must remain on site. For times and registration, click here.

55+ Trip - “Cheers Virginia” 

On Mon., Nov. 7, meet at Madison Community Center to travel to the Virginia Museum of History and Culture in Richmond to explore the “Cheers, Virginia” exhibit! Celebrate the work of craft brewing, distilling and fermenting and the makers whose art fills your glass. From homebrewers to local distillers and wineries, alcohol makers have captured the soul and identity of Virginia with their intoxicating offerings. $37 per person. Nature Origami @ Gulf Branch 

On Sat., Nov. 19, 1:30-2:30 p.m., enjoy a morning of paper folding at Gulf Branch Nature Center! Create origami versions of your favorite animals as we learn about and meet some of the critters found near the nature center at this event for ages 13+. $5. Sign up here.


Want to grab some local seasonal produce? Come on down to the Arlington Farmers Market at the Courthouse parking lot every Saturday From 8 a.m.-noon through December.

Play Ball with DPR this Winter! 

Looking to stay fit and active this winter while playing competitive basketball? Grab a few friends and sign up for Parks & Rec’s Eugene J. Green Memorial Adult Winter Basketball League. Register teams of up to 12 people for the ten-game season for $765 per team. Games are Mondays or Wednesdays starting the week of Dec. 12. Learn more and sign up here.


Beginners Latin Dance 

Is learning to Latin Dance on your to do list or do you want to brush up on your skills? Then this FREE class is for you! On Thurs., Nov. 10 from 4-5:30 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center, teens and adults can come learn the basics of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Cumbia - the four most popular Latin dance styles.
