NOV. 17, 2022
The Arlington County Public Health Division’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic, originally opened nearly two years ago, will permanently close on Dec. 17, 2022.
Demand has significantly decreased at the County’s clinic, with vaccines now widely available in the community through pharmacies, urgent care centers, and medical providers.
Appointments and walk-ins are available for primary series and eligible boosters for everyone ages 6 months and older until Dec. 17. Now is the best time to get up to date on COVID-19 vaccination for increased protection from severe illness, before spending more time indoors and in crowds during the holiday season.
All County Curative COVID-19 testing kiosks will close on Nov. 30, 2022, except for the Arlington Mill Community Center location.
The closure of kiosks aligns with a significant decline in kiosk testing demand across the County and the widespread availability of at-home and pharmacy-based tests.
Arlington Mill Community Center’s Curative kiosk (909 S. Dinwiddie St.) will remain open through Dec. 31, 2022, to offer no-cost testing to nearby residents who may otherwise have reduced access to testing services.
The Department of Public Safety Communications and Emergency Management (DPSCEM) is also purchasing and distributing rapid COVID-19 test kits to uninsured and under-insured residents through local nonprofit organizations.
Find testing locations convenient to you by visiting VDH’s test site locator. Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19, before large gatherings (e.g. Thanksgiving!) and after spending time in a crowd.
As people start to travel and gather for the holidays, it’s vitally important that we protect ourselves and others from COVID-19 and all respiratory viruses. You can do this through masking, testing, and other layered prevention measures such as improving ventilation and spending time outdoors.
Reduce the spread of COVID-19 this holiday season by following this advice from the CDC:
-
Get Your COVID-19 and Flu Shots. COVID-19 vaccines can help protect you from COVID-19. Get vaccinated as soon as you can. CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses.
-
Wear A Mask. If you are not fully vaccinated or if you have a weakened immune system, wear a mask indoors. If you are fully vaccinated, wear a mask indoors in areas with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission.
-
Wash Your Hands. Use soap and clean running water for 20 seconds at key times such as after using the bathroom or before eating.
-
Find Safer Ways to Celebrate the Holidays. There are several ways to enjoy holiday traditions and protect your health.
