Arlington Holds 9/11 Remembrance
Arlington County held a September 11 Remembrance Ceremony today to honor and remember those impacted by the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.

New Teleconnect Space Available at Columbia Pike Library

Yellow Line Metrorail Closures Starting this Weekend
Several Metrorail stations in Arlington will see significant service impacts on the Yellow Line starting Sat., September 10. Find alternate transportation options if you live or work along the affected stations.

- The new, free COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccines are now available in Virginia. Visit vaccines.gov to search for appointments in and around Arlington, which includes pharmacies and other medical providers.
- These updated boosters, manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, are targeted specifically at the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of the Omicron variant.
- People 12 years and older are recommended to receive one updated Pfizer or Moderna (bivalent) booster at least 2 months after completion of a primary series or previously received monovalent booster. At this time, people 12-17 years old can only receive the updated Pfizer bivalent booster. Learn more from the CDC: Stay Up to Date with COVID-19 Vaccines Including Boosters.
- Boosters will be available through Arlington County Public Health Division soon. We will update appointment scheduling in VAMS when appointments are available.

- Arlington’s own local cover band, COLLECTIVE, will perform at George Mason University's Mason Square for Music on the Plaza on Fri., September 9, at 6 p.m.

Arlington TV cable channel and livestream will be offline September 10-11 due to scheduled maintenance. Regular programming will resume on Mon., September 12, at 10 a.m.
- The 20th Annual Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff, & ECC 9/11 Memorial 5K Race will take place on the evening of Sat., September 10. Arlington County Police Department will close roadways around the Pentagon and in Crystal City to accommodate the event.
- Come to Gateway Park for the Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2022 on Sat., September 10, from 1-7 p.m.
- Beginning Mon., September 12, Rocky Run’s turf field will be closed for renovations for approximately 45 days.
- Join Arlington County's Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) for an online presentation, Choosing Traditional Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan: Pros and Cons, on Tues., September 13, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
- Learn how to get free or discounted internet service through the Affordable Connectivity Program Fair, happening Wed., September 14, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Walter Reed Community Center.
- Attend free, in-person Until Help Arrives training on Thurs., September 15, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and learn how to help yourself and others while waiting for first responders.

PARK(ing) Day returns to Arlington for the first time in three years on Fri., September 16. Visit groups of highly creative people as they temporarily repurpose drab curbside spaces into small parks as an exploration of public space and possibility.

Rock-n-Recycle Open House offers a family friendly behind-the-scenes look at key environmental services provided by Arlington County. Happening Sat., September 17, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
