2022 Arlington County Fair Kicks Off August 17

The 2022 Arlington County Fair, one of the area’s largest free summer events, takes place August 17-21. The Thomas Jefferson Community Center and Park will be transformed for five days into a space of fun activities including cotton candy eating, Ferris-wheel riding, goat yoga posing, and more.

County Board to Host Conversations on Missing Middle Housing

The Arlington County Board will host a series of community conversations and information sessions in September and October that will help inform the next steps on Missing Middle Housing. These conversations include three live virtual sessions where community members can send questions in advance.

Traffic Pattern Changes Coming to Columbia Pike

Starting Mon., August 15, there will be new traffic patterns on Columbia Pike between South Wakefield Street and South George Mason Drive. This project will move existing utilities underground to provide more reliable service, upgrade sidewalks to provide a better pedestrian experience, and add transit stations to improve bus operations.

• Getting a booster dose is an important step in protecting yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. Find out if you're eligible for a dose at one of the County's COVID-19 vaccine clinics.
• Is it allergies, a common cold, or COVID-19? Get tested to find out for sure. The County’s Curative kiosks offer no-cost, walk-up testing and are open daily. 
• Walk-ins and appointments are still available at Arlington Mill and Walter Reed Community Centers for older children, teenagers and adults. Visit the County website for details.

• Weigh in on the County's draft Chesapeake Bay Preservation Plan Update to reduce water pollution by reviewing the draft plan and providing feedback through August 15.
• Also through August 15, share your input on the Gulf Branch Stream Resilience Project and its latest changes to limit environmental impacts.
• The South Four Mile Run Drive Complete Streets virtual community meeting has been rescheduled to Wed., Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. Join County staff to learn about the project, see how community input helped shape concept design elements and options, and share your feedback. 
• Now through Sept. 30, share your input for the Digital Equity Broadband Study eCheckup as a resident or as a business to help the County better understand the community's internet access and use.
• Provide your input on the Draft Forestry and Natural Resources Plan now through Oct. 3 (formulario en español). Arlington’s Forestry and Natural Resources Plan is designed to address environmental challenges and ensure a healthy Arlington for current and future generations.

• Arlington Public Library is featuring The Three Not So Little Pigs! Presented by Blue Sky Puppet Theatre on the last day of the Lubber Run Summer Concert Series on Sun., August 14, at 11 a.m.
• Apply for the Fall 2022-2023 Energy Masters session! Early bird discounts end August 21.
• The Fall ENJOY Arlington registration for fall 2022 programs is open to Arlington County residents on a rolling basis, staggering enrollments by class type.

• Food for Neighbors is looking for lead volunteers to support its expansion into Arlington to help Arlington Public Schools middle and high school students who have food insecurity.
• Arlington County’s Immunization Clinic is open, by appointment only, for adult and childhood immunizations to fulfill entry requirements from Arlington Public Schools.

Celebrate Latino music, food, family entertainment, and an artisans' market at the ¡Viva Cultura! Festival, on Sat., August 13, starting at 10 a.m. at Gateway Park. This free event invites everyone to come and add to a very special and memorable cultural experience.
