Updates and Closures

  • Lubber Run’s gym is not available Aug. 22-26 from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. due to summer camps.
  • The Oak & Hickory Room will be unavailable Aug. 29–31. All programs on those dates have been cancelled or rescheduled to a later date.

  • New drop-In gym schedule for basketball and pickleball:

    Basketball: 

    • Mon., Wed., Thurs.: 7 a.m.-8 a.m. (half court); 12 p.m.-2 p.m. (full court) 
    • Tues.: 12 p.m.-2 p.m. (full court) 
    • Fri.: 7 a.m.-8 a.m. (half court); 12 p.m.-2 p.m. (full court); 3 p.m - 6 p.m. (youth and teen); 6 p.m. - 9 p.m (full court) 
    • Sat.: 2-5 p.m. (full court) 

    Pickleball:

    • Mon., Tues., Thurs. (2 Courts) 7-9 a.m.  
    • Wed. & Fri. (2 Courts) 7 a.m.–noon  
    • Tues. & Thurs. (4 Courts) 6–9 p.m.  
    • Sun. (2 courts): 5-7 p.m. 

What's Happening at Lubber Run

Great News! The brand-new Lubber Run Outdoor Lawn is now available for drop-in recreational use.  


Free Muscle Conditioning Class!  

Get your heart rate up with Muscle Conditioning, an outdoor bodyweight workout for adults on Tuesdays from 9:15-10 a.m.Sign up here. Bring your own mat or towel; hand weights are optional.

Yoga for Every Body on the Lawn! 

Let's approach yoga, life and our bodies with fun, compassion, and gratitude (weather permitting). No prior yoga experience is required. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle and towel. Join us at Lubber Run (on the lawn!) on Sat., Aug. 6 & 20 from 9-10 a.m. $15. Sign up here.

Has it been a while since you’ve been in a fitness center? Are you new to fitness equipment? Sign up for a FREE Equipment orientation at Lubber Run the Second Tuesday of the month, 10:15-11 a.m. Sign up at the front desk or email Fitness Program Manager, Michelle Atkin.   


Muscle Blast for Community Center Fitness Members 

Get your heart rate up with a full-body strength workout with dumbbells and bands in this indoor class for adults on Fridays from 12:15-1 p.m. Only $5 for adults; $4 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Sign up here. 


Last Chance Under the Stars at Lubber Run Amphitheater 

  • Fri., Aug. 5 and Sat., Aug. 6 at 8 p.m., and Sun., Aug. 7 at 6 p.m.: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Join Avant Bard Theatre, The Arlington Players and Encore Stage & Studio for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (lyrics by Tim Rice and Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber). Learn more here.  
  • Thurs., Aug. 11 at 8 p.m.: The 257th Army Band, The Band of the Nation’s Capital. The 257th Army Band, “The Band of the Nation’s Capital,” is the official musical ambassador for the D.C. Army National Guard. The band boasts a proud lineage going back to the organizational lineage and association with the legendary Corcoran Cadets, the D.C. militia that inspired John Philip Sousa to compose his march of the same name.   • Fri., Aug. 12 at 8 p.m.: National Chamber Ensemble. National Chamber Ensemble's internationally-acclaimed musicians and visiting guest artists provide outstanding performances of chamber music in an intimate setting. Learn more here. 
  • Sat., Aug. 13 at 11 a.m.: Rainbow Rock Band. Join the Rainbow Rock Band as they entertain your little dudes with tunes, laughs and more! Winners of a Parents' Choice Fun Stuff Award for their debut CD, "Meet the Rainbow," in addition to a Family Choice Award, a Mom's Choice Award and a National Parent Product Award (NAPPA) winner for their newest release "Total Eclipse of the Rainbow," an absolute mix of musical genres from folk, pop rock to rockabilly, all the while being educational and fun.   • Sat., Aug. 13 at 8 p.m.: Karen Jonas. Karen Jonas has released five full-length records and is a three-time Wammie (Washington Area Music) Award winner for Best Country and Americana Artist, Mid Atlantic Song Contest winner, Ameripolitan Award nominee, and official SXSW and UK Americanafest Showcasing Artist.   • Sun., Aug. 14 at 11 a.m.: The Three Not So Little Pigs. Presented in partnership with Arlington Public Library, “The Three Not So Little Pigs” features rod puppets behind a six-foot tall curtain.  It is an updated, modern, and comic version of the classic children’s story, “The Three Pigs.” Learn more here.

Ice Cream Social at Lubber Run
