Renovated Jennie Dean Park Reopens

Arlington celebrated the reopening of the newly renovated Jennie Dean Park, an integral part of the Green Valley community for more than 75 years. The park has been transformed into an exciting space that celebrates the neighborhood’s past and cultural heritage while increasing access to recreation and nature. New Name for Neighborhood Conservation Program

After a nearly yearlong renaming process, the County is pleased to announce the new name for the Neighborhood Conservation Program: Arlington Neighborhoods Program. The name change reflects the inclusive nature of the program while continuing its unique grassroots approach to improving and enhancing neighborhoods. 

COVID-19 News & Notes

  • Booster doses for 5-11 year-olds now available: Walk-ins and appointments are available at Arlington Mill and Walter Reed Community Centers* for booster doses for 5-11 year-olds. (Tuesday–Friday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.)
  • County libraries and community centers are offering free, at-home COVID-19 rapid tests during normal business hours, in addition to the County’s no-cost, no-appointment PCR COVID-19 testing. Limited supply is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Another round of at-home COVID-19 tests are available. Order yours today!
  • Arlington Mill and Walter Reed Community Centers continue to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations by walk-ins and appointments for individuals age 5 and older.
  • Everyone should stay up to date with vaccines, get boosters if eligible, and get tested if you have symptoms. Again: even if your symptoms may be due to allergies or other causes, it’s important to get tested to rule out COVID-19.

  • Improving the summer camp registration process is one of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s top department-wide priorities. Share your input to help improve the customer experience for Arlington County’s 2023 Summer Camp Registration now through June 6. (Queremos saber su opinión)
  • Share your feedback on the pilot roundabout installed at the intersection of Military Road and Nelly Custis Drive now through June 6.
  • Join the Columbia Pike Forward Open House on June 7 at 4 p.m. Project staff will share how Arlington County plans to make Columbia Pike between South Wakefield and South Oakland streets safer and more accessible to all travelers.
  • Join Arlington County transportation staff online for a community open house to learn about phase two of the South Four Mile Run Drive Complete Streets Project on Thurs., June 9, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where Should Arlington Develop More Outdoor Athletic Courts? See what we've learned and share your feedback, by June 9, regarding locations for multi-use courts that would include pickleball and a location for a dedicated pickleball facility. 
  • Las Pupusas con la Policía on Thurs., June 9, at 3:30 p.m. Traigan a sus amigos y vecinos para comer una pupusa y hablar con la policía. Háganos preguntas y déjanos saber sus preocupaciones. Join Arlington County Police Department to eat a pupusa and talk with officers, ask questions, and let us know about your concerns.
  • Arlington has released its draft HOME Investment Partnerships American Rescue Plan Allocation Plan for public review. Comment via an online feedback form open through June 10.
