John Robinson, Jr. Town Square is Now Open

The family of John Robinson, Jr. celebrates the opening of a town square named in his honor. The new town square in the Green Valley community features open space, an outdoor stage, checkered game tables, and the FREED sculpture, a 30-foot-tall beacon which pays homage to the notion of freedom.

• Arlington County is still in the "Medium" Community Level as we continue to see a rise in COVID-19 cases -- if you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions
• Everyone should stay up to date with vaccines, get boosters if eligible, and get tested if you have symptoms
• Arlington Mill and Walter Reed Community Centers offer free COVID-19 vaccinations by walk-ins and appointments for individuals age 5 and older.

• Watch the County Board Meeting virtually on Saturday, May 14, and the Recessed Board Meeting on Tues., May 17 which will include the proposed FY 2023-2032 Capital Improvement Plan presentation.
• Share your thoughts on Arlington’s New 20 MPH School Slow Zones now through May 15! Tell the Vision Zero team how effective these 20 mile-per-hour zones are before permanently installing them at all schools in Arlington. 
• Join Arlington County and the City of Alexandria for the Four Mile Run Dredging Project virtual community meeting on May 17th at 7:00 pm. The work will consist of removing soil and rocks from the open channel to reduce flood risk.
• Missing Middle Housing Study Feedback form is open through May 27. Share your thoughts on the draft framework for expanding housing choice through missing middle housing. (Español, عربي, монгол, አማርኛ) 
• The renovation of 11th Street North and North Danville Street Park will begin this summer. This is an opportunity to help name the newly renovated park. Rank your choices on names for the park now through May 17.
• Join Arlington CERT on May 19 and take the FREE Until Help Arrives Training! Here you can learn skills to respond to life-threatening situations like car collisions, household accidents or shootings.
• We’re looking for YOUR inspiration and input for an open, flexible space planned for 2700 South Nelson Street, which will be designed following the planned demolition of the existing buildings this fall.
