Food Access & Security Study Released

The Urban Institute has just released its study, "Improving Food Security and Access in Arlington County, VA" that is produced in conjunction with the Food Security Task Force and AFAC.

Arlington Environmental Collection and Recycling Event (E-CARE)

E-CARE is a biannual environmentally friendly drop-off event where residents can safely dispose of household hazardous materials (HHM), bikes, small metal, and many other items. This year's E-CARE takes place on Sat., April 23, 8:30 am to 3 pm.

New Food Assistance Webpage

Visit the recently refreshed Arlington County food assistance website for up-to-date information about resources in the community.

• Tomorrow, April 16, is the last day Free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen At-Home Test Kits will be available at Central and Columbia Pike Libraries.
• Walter Reed Community Center COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic and Arlington Mill Community Center are open during regular hours (Tuesday–Friday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.). Find more opportunities at https://vaccines.gov.
• CDC recommends additional boosters for certain individuals. Vaccine eligibility information can be found in the COVID-19 Vaccination Schedules.

• Share your feedback, now through April 17, on how you experience the corridors under consideration for 2022's Resurfacing for Complete Streets program.
• On April 26,  Join Arlington Police Department for the first "Coffee with a Cop" series in 2022, a national program where community members can meet officers, ask questions and discuss public safety concerns.
• Join the Virginia Department of Transportation, on April 28 at 6:30 pm, for the first virtual public meeting for the second phase of the Route 1 Multimodal Improvements Study.
• Share Your Feedback on South George Mason Drive now through May 1. Tell us what modes of travel feel safest - or less safe, and what would make different segments on this road better.
• Share your thoughts through May 1 with the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) on Visualize 2045, the long-range transportation plan update for the metropolitan Washington region.

• Pink Lights at Long Bridge Park Esplanade at 475 Long Bridge Drive until Saturday, April 16.

• On April 19, the Arlington Employment Center offers online webinars and workshops to help job seekers with their search. 
• Paint, Build, Create! Create an exciting Earth Day project with the Earth-Fest Recycled Cutout Garden Art-To-Go Kit at Fairlington Community Center April 18-20.
• Join the Earth Day community climate action & clean up event on April 23, from 9-noon at Bon Air Park in Arlington.
• The Arlington Teen Summer Job Fair is on Sat. Apr 23, from 10 am to 12 pm.
• Earth Day Every Fay Festival on Langston Boulevard Sun on April 24 at 12-5 pm.
• Help the County respond to emergencies like the pandemic, floods and storms. Join Arlington's free CERT program! Spring classes start April 27.
• Find Your HeART Murals! These three heart-filled murals have been relocated from the Four Mile Run Trail to the Virginia Highlands Park ball fields now through April 28.

Free Until Help Arrives Training

Free Until Help Arrives training will teach you skills to respond to an emergency until the first responders arrives. Register for the FREE in-person class on April 21.
