Closures

  • All Community Centers are closed Dec. 24–26 and Dec. 31–Jan. 2 (except for Long Bridge Aquatics Center, which will be open on Jan. 2).

55+ Sing-a-Long @ Lubber Run 

55+ Pass holders are invited to lift their voice and spirit with Carl Gold on Fri., Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at this holiday sing-along that offers fun, cheer and a whole lot of music for all! Register here.

 

Open Bounce Fun!  

Get your bounce on! Children ages 3-9 can bounce freely at Lubber Run on select Saturdays through March 26. Learn more and register here.

 

Get Fit @ Lubber Run 

  • Free! Has it been a while since you’ve been in a fitness center? Are you new to fitness equipment? Sign up for a free orientation on Tues., Dec. 14, 10:15-10:45 a.m. Email Fitness Program Manager, Michelle Atkin at matkin@arlingtonva.us to sign up.  
  • Free! Get your heart rate up with Muscle Conditioning, an outdoor bodyweight workout for adults on Tuesdays from 9:15-10 a.m. Sign up here.   
  • Community Center Fitness Members! Get your heart rate up with Muscle Blast, a full- body strength workout with dumbbells and bands at this indoor class for adults on Fridays from 12:15-1 p.m.  Only $5 for adults; $4 for ages 55+ (with a community center Fitness membership). Sign up here or drop in.

 

Free Friday Night Sports for Teens at Lubber Run   

Teens can come and enjoy a wide variety of sports activities Fridays from 7-9 p.m., including basketball, badminton, dodgeball, volleyball, as well as esports. Learn more and sign up here.

letters to santa

Letters to Santa Claus  

Santa wants to hear from you! A special mailbox just for your letters to Santa has been set up outside of the Robert Walker Log Cabin at Gulf Branch Nature Center until Dec. 23 to ensure timely delivery to the North Pole. Letters received by Sat., Dec. 18 will get a postcard back from Santa. Learn more here. (In the spirit of giving, please also bring any canned food items for the Arlington Food Assistance Center and place them in the labeled box next to Santa’s mailbox. Happy Holidays!)


Submission Saturdays – Get Ready to Register!

Registration for winter ENJOY Arlington classes opens Dec. 8! Stop by Lubber Run Community Center on Dec. 4, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to create an account, get login information, renew or apply for fee reductions, drop off registration forms, set up payment plans and more. Learn more here.


Teens Red Cross Babysitting Class

Teens – sign up for the Red Cross Babysitting class on Mon., Dec. 27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Arlington Mill Community Center to get skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Participants ages 11-17 will develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and more. Sign up here.


Help make a positive impact on our Arlington youth! Sign up to be a volunteer head coach, assistant coach or team manager for the 2021-2022 winter youth house basketball season.


R.I.P. - Remove Invasive Plants at Gulf Branch!

Help restore habitat and increase species diversity right here in Arlington on Sat., Dec. 11, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Gulf Branch Nature Center. Work parties are held every month. We are making a real difference, with the return of ferns and wildflowers, and the animals that depend on them, in areas once covered in destructive invasive plants. Must register children & adults by emailing NaturalResources@arlingtonva.us.


19th Annual Artful Weekend at Fort C. F. Smith

Looking for the perfect holiday gift? How about local art! More than 30 Arlington-based artists will feature their wares at the Hendry House at Fort C.F. Smith Park from Dec. 3-5.

  • Dec. 3, 3-8 p.m., Opening Reception, 6-8 p.m.
  • Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Dec. 5, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Get Fit with Parks & Rec Classes!

Bundle up and get your heart rate up with a bodyweight workout before stretching it out at this free outdoor muscle conditioning class for adults throughout December on Mondays from 12:15-1 p.m.and Thursdays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Community Center, Tuesdays from 9:15-10 a.m. at Lubber Run Community Center and Wednesdays from 12:15-1 p.m. at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. Sign up here.  

 

Just a note…Classes are slowly moving back indoors due to safety measures and instructor shortages. Please be patient as we are trying to rebuild our programs during a pandemic facing critical instructor shortages.

Rosslyn BID is counting down the days ‘til the holidays! Beginning on Dec. 1, find the Holiday Chocolate Countdown at Central Place Plaza, where Rosslyn BID Ambassadors will reveal a new clue each day leading up to the holidays. (Hint: The answers are all good enough to eat!)
