19th Annual Artful Weekend at Fort C. F. Smith

Looking for the perfect holiday gift? How about local art! More than 30 Arlington-based artists will feature their wares at the Hendry House at Fort C.F. Smith Park from Dec. 3-5. Learn more here.

Registration for winter ENJOY Arlington classes opens Dec. 8! (The catalog goes online Wed., Dec. 1) To help you prepare, stop by Lubber Run Community Center on Sat., Dec. 4 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to create an account, get login information, renew or apply for fee reductions, drop off registration forms, set up payment plans and more. Indoor Cycle @ Long Bridge

Are you looking for an indoor cycle class? Early birds can hop on a bike Mondays at 6:30 a.m. and lunchtime exercisers can get a ride in on Fridays at 12:15 p.m. at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. Register in advance here or drop-in for $5 ($4 for 55+ pass holders). Long Bridge membership or pass required.


Holiday Wreath Workshop

Using all-natural items, we’ll create some delightfully decorative crafts you can use to spruce up your home or give as special gifts on Sat., Dec. 4 from 1-4 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center! We’ll provide music, refreshments, basic instruction and enough materials for each participant to make two wreaths. Learn more here. Sign up here.

Families Unplugged – Winter Art To Go Boxes

Paint along with our expert instructors and create a winter snowman masterpiece in your own home on your own time with our December Art To Go Box! $20 gets you all the supplies your family needs to create four individual Winter Paint Along projects. Sign up here. Staff will contact you once you have registered to schedule a box pick up date and time at Fairlington Community Center.

We are Thankful for Parks!

Preschool Nature Explorers

Preschoolers can actively explore their natural world with programs that build the foundation for a lifetime of wonder, appreciation and discovery Sat., Dec. 11, 4-4:30 p.m. at Gulf Branch Nature Center. Hands-on interactive learning, crafts, mini hikes and nature play provide a fun and engaging experience for children. $5 per child. Sign up here.

Northern Virginia Bird Club Walk 

Join members of the Northern Virginia Bird Club for informal walks through Glencarlyn Park in search of resident and migratory birds. Experienced and beginning birders welcomed! Bring binoculars and field guides if you have them. We will meet at the Long Branch Nature Center’s parking lot on Wed., Dec. 1, 8:30-11 a.m. Sign up here.

Hatha Yoga for Ages 55+

Stay zen this holiday season with our chair, gentle and traditional hatha yoga classes. Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Lubber Run Community Center. $50 per multi-week session. Sign up here. 55+ Pass required to participate.
