As of Monday (July 26), the Arlington County Public Health Division has given more than 150,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses! Overall in Arlington, a total of 264,500 doses have been administered and 132,000+ people are fully vaccinated.
The vaccines are free, safe and still the best protection against COVID-19. Get the facts, then get the vaccine.
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) COVID-19 in Virginia dashboards now include information on the number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths by vaccination status. They also include data to track COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. Vaccine breakthrough means someone who is fully vaccinated develops COVID-19.
"Over 99% of COVID-19 cases in Virginia have occurred in people who were not fully vaccinated," said State Health Commissioner M. Norman Oliver, M.D., M.A. "I continue to encourage everyone who is able to get vaccinated to do so."
Although most people with COVID-19 get better within weeks of illness, some people experience post-COVID conditions. Post-COVID conditions are a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems people can experience four or more weeks after first being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. Even people who did not have COVID-19 symptoms in the days or weeks after they were infected can have post-COVID conditions.

The United States is once again seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. COVID-19 cases are on the rise in nearly 90% of U.S. jurisdictions -- these worrisome trends are due, in part, to the rapid spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant.
In Arlington County, the 7-Day Average Number of Daily New Cases Reported is 14, the highest it has been since early May. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective at preventing COVID-19, especially severe illness and death -- visit vaccines.gov to find a vaccine near you.
